A string quartet on the Crystal Symphony, the cruise ship I was on in August 2011. These four young women were very talented. This was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel XTi (400D) and a Canon EF 28-70mm f2.8 L zoom lens using only available light. The aperture was f2.8, shutter speed 1/60 of a second, ISO speed/sensitivity 800, and focal length 29mm.
Very small wall hanging size string quilt. These blocks are 5" X 5" finished. The little center strips are 1/2" finished size, and the whole thing was made of scraps. I don't know that I would ever make another one with scraps, but I would do it again with fabric purchased just for a string quilt.

When I went to the Festival in Roskilde this year I saw those gourgeous voodoo babies by Nana Idea from Thailand.
I just fell in love with them and I didn't rest until I found out how they're made. It was really hard to get hints from the net. But with a little bit of information here and there, I figured!!
My little voodoos are not as smart as Nana's, but they're very cute with their string bodies and little pierced hearts!
Good voodoo, I guarantee!

Finaly a good day to take some photo's of this finished string quilt! What a beautiful morning with some frost, hoping for many more to come this winter! I finished this quilt in the last week of 2011 and finished the binding this week. I am very happy with the fabric choice, for a long time I was't happy with the fact that I bought the Hope Valley, did'nt know what to do with it. A couple of tests with my lovelylovely new lens, the Tokina AT-X 165 PRO DX. What can I say? I don't think I've ever been as satisfied as this with a lens buy. 16-50 and f/2.8, bloody brilliant.

I'll be opening up this lion dance puppet when the time comes. I got this in KL last year. I think he's orange, but I remember the seller having pink and blue too. Blue sold out very fast, I believe. No matter, I like orange more those others anyway!

Last night, Monday 11 December 2017, saw the Greater Manchester Police Christmas Concert take place at Manchester Cathedral.
The evening was opened by the Dean of Manchester, the Very Reverend Rodgers Govender and closed with an address by Chief Constable Ian Hopkins.
The event was attended by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Baroness Beverley Hughes.
Also in attendance were Lord Mayor of Manchester and civic leaders from across the region.
The evening featured a selection of Christmas carols and songs – old and new – with music provided by the Greater Manchester Police Band with vocalists Rae Atkin and John-Phillip Bowen.
Musical guest included Parrs Wood Harmony School Choir, Heartbeat Chorus Ladies Choir and the Manchester String Quartet.
