String quilt made from men's ties to raffle for my Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society (I will NEVER do one of these again!)
I'm getting a $1500 12 string for my girl...I'm getting it for $90!
That is the reason this dude is spending the best part of three days living on the street outside Allans Music -www.allansmusic.com.au - in Sydney. Come visit him, say hello and tell him Luke sent ya!
The store is on Pitt St and along with his mate, are number one and two in the que for Saturdays door buster sale!
Steve and the present that Evan picked out for him: Lego Gollum and Shelob from Lord of the Rings. We don't have the video game that these are supposed to be used with, but this pack seemed like a nice inexpensive way to get those figures. Steve's been reading The Hobbit to Evan, so Evan was familiar with Gollum.
In no particular order, 66 blocks made all from the scrap bins. Now I need to start cutting white strips from yardage. The scrap bin (anything less than 2.5" wide) is almost empty. I might have to start using some jelly strips.
Sri Lankan red rice is extruded through a special tool onto a wicker or plastic 'stand' and then these are stacked and steamed. The results can be eaten for breakfast, a meal, or even a snack. With the right variety of curries, I could eat dozens and dozens!
Here is a small sneak peak of Stringer for my soon-to-be-released reviews of four summer sets: Bulk, Core Hunter, Voltix and, of course, Stringer! Enjoy.
Thanks to DV for the advice involving the light tent.
After placing the last heddle loop on the stick, place three or four extra hitches on the rod.
Cut the heddle string leaving enough tail to be able to tie it to the tail at the beginning of the heddle loops.
I love the ribbons on this g-string, the original negligee which this cake is based on had them on, so I had to include them some how!

I did this tile for a friend of mine whose name is Alanna. I used her name for the string and as an influence for the tangle choices. Tangles Used: Afterglow, Leaflet, Ahh, Nuwave, Nvelope, Agua.
At the feet I used a couple of split rings that were originally keyrings. These give the feet a bit of weight so the string drops readily and they also allow me to create a loop if I want to attach an end to something.
See the head here.

Moda Hello Betty Honey Bun strips, tutorial by The Sometimes Crafter. I used two layers of batting, as suggested by another tutorial, but they're still too thin to be really useful. More layers next time, less potential burning of hands.
Tie the end of the string with a slip knot onto your heddle rod.Leave a tail of about half the width of your warp.
Finaly a good day to take some photo's of this finished string quilt! What a beautiful morning with some frost, hoping for many more to come this winter! I finished this quilt in the last week of 2011 and finished the binding this week. I am very happy with the fabric choice, for a long time I was't happy with the fact that I bought the Hope Valley, did'nt know what to do with it. Until I saw this quilt made out of it www.flickr.com/photos/39332868@N06/5897170598/in/set-7215... It was just perfect for it! Thanks so much Angela for the idea!
last of the string line shots, at least for now. still fully functional, the powder is bright purple. i cleaned out my toolboxes after fixing up my bike last week, so this guy and a few other bits got hauled out to pose. since the light was haywire, i shot about fifty frames of it, but posting four is probably enough.
Elka Rhapsody 490 String Machine. Something I've wanted for a long time! Finally I have it. Or... what's left of it. But at least it works. Very cool shimmering strings sound!
I'm not sure bead stringing is the right hobby for the boys.
