A sweet little doll-sized quilt made with String Blocks and finished with Prarie Points. October 2010
Taken at the Offshoot visit to White Rock, Killiney...thanks to Matthew whose idea this was and who did all the twirling!
String Lake early on a peaceful spring morning in the Tetons with Mt. Moran just visible in the background. String Lake is a narrow lake, 1.3 mi (2.1 kilometers) with a maximum width of .2 miles (.32 kilometers). In reality, it is an extremely slow moving river that connects Leigh Lake in the north with Jenny Lake to the south.

I have been using string bags for years. They are better for the planet and hold more than traditional paper bags. You can also throw them in the wash if they get dirty. Explore #257
Das ist keine Kunst, sondern ein gewöhnlicher Strick im Vatikanischen Museum.
That´s not Art. It´s a normal string in the Vatican Museum.
I made this today for myself to add to the 4x5 swap blocks. It makes me happy! I wasn't sure about the large floral in the corner triangles, but it's one of my favorite prints ever.

I used a 3" pieced strip, 1" wide white strips and 5" squares cut on the diagonal for the triangles.
This is a drawing study for a new painting I am working on. These are my oldest daughters Rose and Pearl modeling for me here.

What significance does this ball of string hold? Quite simply sweet F.A
I woke up feeling a bit rough this morning. A man would call it flu, but being the tougher species I’ll settle for calling it a head cold. *Quickly ducks the barrage of abuse from the men*
Determined to get an outdoor pic today, I courageously loaded myself up with tissues, lemsip tablets, cough medicine, my trusty camera, and off I went.
I’m not going to say what my photo was going to be as I figure with 365 days to fill I’ll most definitely be saving this idea for another date, after several attempts were thwarted through no fault of my own.
As the day’s gone by I’ve started feeling worse, so I’ve been forced to hunt around my home taking pictures of any inanimate object that crosses my path. Hence the ball of string. (You have no idea how close you were to viewing a photo of a pile of screwed up used tissues haha)
I know there are certain “friends” of mine out there who will relish the opportunity to comment on the fact I’ve posted yet another indoor photo. (Yes Mr Spleencheesemonkey, I’m referring to you!) but for once I just don’t care.
Now I’ve uploaded today’s photo I can retire to my bed, have an early night, and hopefully wake in the morning feeling fit and healthy.
Antique store purchase. This quilt has a strip of paint that goes across the front like it was used as a drop cloth..
We bought our current house in Feb 1995. I had this quilt already at that time. Somewhere I have photos of our former bedroom with this quilt in it.

I'm using up my scraps and some F/Q's I've lost interest in to make this string quilt. It's for me and my family and will the 1st real quilt I'll have completed. I love the messy & uncoordinated look of it.

Sandra Strait wrote about the Landscape String here: lifeimitatesdoodles.blogspot.com/2013/05/using-landscapes...
Always inspired by Sandra's art and techniques, I decided to give it a whirl. Instead of using a photo or painting, I simply sketched a simple landscape and then tangled away.
Mine, of course, isn't anything much compared to the beauty of Sandra's but it was fun and I'll definitely be doing this again!
Thanks for looking.
