Creatures strolling across the surface of a Houghton Bay rockpool. I think they're insects called water striders that have legs covered with fine hair that traps air to provide buoyancy, and also act as oars and rudders.

A stream's surface is deformed by the weight of this water strider which uses surface tension to resist drowning.

Obligatory post-card shot of Striding Edge.

Striding Sphinx Finial

Egypt

Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty 22-24, ca. 945-712 BCE

Unlike representations of a lion at rest, a striding sphinx represents protective aggression. The snakelike tail and extended legs of this sphinx identify him as the god Tutu. The falcon wings adorning his flanks place the sphinx in the solar sphere, while the two cobras on his sides support Tutu’s power against evil. This figure was probably attached to a sacred boat used temple rituals, protecting the vessel and the divine statue on board.

Here is the completely stripped chassis of the floppy disk drive. To the right is the grounding tag and its screw.
