I don't think there are many days a year when the weather is as good as this. Not a breath of wind and excellent visibility made the walk along the edge slightly less dangerous!

A rather strange effect created by a mass of Water Striders on the Lily pond at an acreage southwest of the city, near Millarville. Three of us returned there recently to do another bio-assessment of this wonderful acreage.

Water-striders of the family-Gerridae is a predatory bug generally live in ponds,lakes or streams in large numbers. They glide like skillful skaters with their long slender legs. The under part of their hindquarters is set thick with hairs acting as an air cushion.
