Yosemite Valley represents only one percent of the park area, but this is where most visitors arrive and stay. More than half a dozen creeks tumble from hanging valleys at the top of granite cliffs that can rise 3000–4000 feet above the valley floor, which itself is 4000 feet above sea level.

In The Compleat Angler or The Contemplative Man's Recreation, Izaak Walton wrote, 'And you are further to know, that there be certain waters, that breed Trouts remarkable both for their number and smallness. I know a little brook in Kent, that breeds them to a number incredible, and you may take them twenty and forty in an hour, but none greater than about the size of a Gudgeon ...'. It was conjectured by James Rennie (Editor of the 1833 Printing), that Walton was referring to the River Cray, seen here as it flows through Foots Cray Meadows (in the London Borough of Bexley).
This is a scene along the hike to Dark Hollow Falls off of the Skyline Drive.
I cannot wait to get back up there this weekend to capture some real Autumn magic!!
Taking a break from the Disney shots for a day.
This was the area just above the natural body slides at Ohiopyle State Park. I really love the Nik Color Efex Sunlight filter - I have to be very cafeful to NOT overuse it. It really gave a surreal look and feel to this shot, which was probably my favorite of Ohiopyle. The Lee Big Stopper did wonderful things on this trip.
