There are approximately 1 bazillion of these guys choking up the Nerang river here on the Gold Coast at the moment.
I was stuck in Frankfurt for a night due to flight delays and cancellations. A 5 star hotel with free dinner and breakfast isn't SO bad of a deal.
We came across this bird today, must have fallen out of a nest and was pretty helpless on the ground. I took this just as my dog bounced towards it, thankfully the dog ran off and we put the bird into a nearby bush.
(Lt. Monroe, Graham/ Audio Transmission/ July 18, 2036, 22:48) -We got hit pretty badly. A drone squad encroached on our transport while were still 30 miles out from the objective. They had an RPG, I think. I can't be sure though, it might have been mobile artillery even. Either way, our APC is toast. I'm ok though. I got hit in the head as I was going out a back door and I now have fuzzy vision in my left eye. The rest of my team was dead, so I grabbed what I could and got the hell out of there. Do not send reinforcements yet, I don't think they know I got out. I'm only 25 miles out now so I'll press on. The mission is not compromised. I'll try to give updates on my progress daily, when I can. - / (End Trasmission) ___________________________________ I actually made the fig first, and the diorama just so that I could get a legitimate pic. I'll be honest when I say that the rubber bands actually took more effort than the landscape. It was just a 16x16 baseplate with some garnishment on it. Now I remember saying that I was going to make a storyline with my clone but I'm gonna make this one first :)
Taken this shot at Pantai Remis. Pantai Remis is a small beach about 18km south of Kuala Selangor town, along the coastal road to Klang just after Pantai Jeram. The sandy shoreline only extends for less than a few hundred meters before transcending to marsh, but is is quite clean and clear from litter with naturally peaceful surroundings. It lacks the frenzied atmosphere of Pantai Remis, including the market stalls, recreational activities and massive crowd, but is more famous between the two as a food destination for 'Ikan Bakar', a local dish of grilled fish and seafood. Two enormous restaurants perched themselves across the beach with a view of the sea; Aroma Ikan Bakar and Medan Ikan Bakar Jeram
Coming back to the Waldviertel one weekend... the train stopped in the middle of nowhere, a couple of stops from mine. Didn't realize that the Kamptalbahn doesn't always go all the way to the end of the streck.
This poor stranded dolphin-like species is the harbour porpoise (bruinvis in Dutch). On a dutch site I read that she was pregnant and that the finder got out the 70 cm long baby, but she was dead too. THat explains the big cut in her lower body. We found her near pole 25 on a desolate piece of beach on the dutch island Terschelling. There are organisations that help stranded dolphins that survive, the european one based in Holland is called SOS Dolfijn.
