St Mary Le Strand Seen In The Rear Was Consecrated In 1773...The Savoy Theatre Currently Showing Dreamgirls Opened In 1881 And Was The First Public Building In The World To Be Lit Throughout By Electricity...But That Was The Previous Theatre The Current One Opened 1929 In A Production Of Gilbert And Sulivan's 'The Gondoliers'....
The plinth on which it stands denotes the pollution of our oceans. The fish that she is holding looks like a Coelacanth.
A few days before Christmas in 1938, a Coelacanth was caught at the mouth of the Chalumna River on the east coast of South Africa. The fish was caught in a shark gill net by Captain Goosen and his crew, who had no idea of the significance of their find.
The Director of the East London Museum at the time was Miss Marjorie Courtney-Latimer. She alerted the prominent South African ichthyologist Dr J.L.B. Smith to this amazing discovery. The Coelacanth was eventually named (scientific name: Latimeria chalumnae) in honour of Miss Courtney-Latimer.
FYI: Over 100 fossil species of coelacanth have been described. The oldest identified coelacanth fossils are around 420–410 million years old, dating to the early Devonian.

Kanturk is market town in North Co. Cork about 8 miles from where I live. The lamp posts caught my eye. The old 3 story brick building at the end of the street is the library & the clock tower with the weather vane is the Credit Union. Happy Telegraph Tuesday everyone!
Das Seebad liegt etwa 5 km von Oldenburg in Holstein entfernt an der Hohwachter Bucht und der Nordküste der Halbinsel Wagrien. Der Strand ist 3 km lang und in mehrere Abschnitte unterteilt, davon sind zwei Bereiche als Hundestrand und etwa 400 Meter als FKK-Strand ausgewiesen. Der westliche Strandbereich direkt vor der Steilküste wird bei entsprechenden Windverhältnissen von Surfern genutzt. Östlich schließt der Truppenübungsplatz Putlos an das Seebad an, was tagsüber zu zeitweiligen Ruhestörungen führen kann (aus Wikipedia)
Newport Avenue business district in Ocean Beach in 1958. The Strand Theatre is in background, an historic single-screen movie house which opened in the 1920's. In the late 1970's, the Strand survived with midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday and Saturday nights. It closed in the 1990's and was converted into a retail store after several failed attempts to preserve it as a theatre. The theatre was designated an historic building by the San Diego Historical Resources Board in December 2002.
