A 44-foot wall of water suddenly gushed down the Blanco River waterway on Memorial Day weekend 2015 from extreme flooding upstream. washing the road, bridge and unaware drivers downstream. killing more than a dozen people. Some from washed away houses and cars were never found.
Southern Blanco County received a record 10 to 13 inches of rainfall in a 4- to 6-hour period that weekend.
The lake in Sogard in Southern
Denmark. I have visited here about four times in the past. This lake always makes me think of Celts and throwing iron into the water for ceremonial purposes. Celts never actually spread to Denmark so my imagination failed here.
This gas station and store combo sits west of Barstow and east of Hinkley in the Mojave desert. It was operated by a Mrs. McCormick and her son Bud in the 1940's and 1950's. No one seems sure when the doors were locked for the last time, but it's a good bet it was sometime around 1964, when a realignment of the highway routed the stream of customers away from the tiny enterprise. What's left of the place is now home to pigeons, mice, and probably any number of other unseen creatures. Soon, it will belong to the desert again. Thanks to _RedShoesGirl_ for the back story.
HBM! This was taken in Tobago, T&T at Store Bay, a popular tourist spot near to the airport. I remember washing the white sand off my feet.....:) Best seen large by clicking on the photo.

Last week I visited my favorite second-hand store and in the back corner was this small table with a glossy gray ceramic Buddha, a brass lantern and empty picture frames.
Texture is "Braceheart" by pareenca. I tried to find the texture and link again in Flickr, but couldn't. My apologies.
