The Hackberry General Store contains a number of items many might call offensive, such as this Cigar Store Indian. Depending on the age and condition, these statues can be quite valuable. They were originally created in the 1600's in England to indicate a Tobacco shop since natives introduced Europeans to tobacco smoking. Gradually the practice crossed over to the US. Hackberry General Store does sell cigars and if the price were right, they would probably sell their statue as well.
Former Zodys Department Store that closed in 1980's and subdivided. This site was taken over by Albertsons and operated under the name of Grocery Warehouse and later Max Foods. Albertsons had originally operated a store in this same shopping center until it moved next door into the Zodys building. The former Albertsons is now a Office Depot. In 1999, Albertsons took over Lucky Supermarkets, which had a store across the street. The Lucky became an Albertsons and operated until November 21,2007. Former site of Gemco Department Store, this former department store, which included a supermarket and pharmacy under the Gemco banner was located in Huntington Beach California at 7212 Edinger and Goldenwest was subdivided into different retail stores. The Gemco chain was split up, sold off piece meal with several sites kept by Lucky Supermarket in 1986. This site was converted after 1986, when Lucky Supermarkets, owner of Gemco Department Stores decided to close down this chain. The main portion of the former Gemco was converted to a Lucky Supermarket with a Lucky Pharmacy. When Lucky Supermarkets took over the Savon Drug Store Chain, they converted their pharmacies into Savon Pharmacies. Another section of this former department store was converted into a Toys R Us Toy Store. When Albertsons took over Lucky Supermarkets in 1999, they converted this Lucky Savon Supermarket into an Albertsons Savon Supermaket. The lease now has expired, Albertsons decided not to renew it per staff, and this Albertsons is now closed as of October 11, 2007. Photo of the signless closed store. One of xx photos of this site.

Leisenring Union Supply Store. It now appears to be some sort of convience store. Wish I had a dollar for everytime we drove by here ant it was still in Union Supply colors.
I don't normally put several photos on my stream together, but a number of you are interested in the Rock Houses, O I've posted some shots of the interiors. Albeit, their not the best shots!! This was larder/store room.
This store is located in a floating village on Tonlé Sap lake in Cambodia. Tonlé Sap is part of the Mekong River system and the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. The size and depth of the lake change dramatically depending on wet or dry season so structures can't sit on pylons.
Yippeeee!!! Bricksem now has it's very own Lego store...
It will save me trips to Belgium, Amsterdam and Utrecht hahaa!!!

This little country store in Lascassas, Tennessee is still open and doing business as it was when I was a college student back in the mid-50's. It isn't very big, but they seem to have absolutely everything.
You might want to stop by sometime if you are ever traveling Hwy 96 a few miles northeast of Murfreesboro in Rutherford County, Tennessee. It isn't on the main road anymore. A new highway by-passed Lascassas by about one block. It would be worth your time to loop through.

In The Flatwoods Community of Perry County, Tennessee. In my youth during the 50's and 60's, this was called "Coonhunter's" and the community was quite active. It was a frequent stop for my family when we traveled to Tennessee to visit relatives. Attempts to revive the building through the years as a store, restaurant, and a trading post all failed and there is very little left of the community today.
