This is the Edmonds Clock Tower it was on the ground last time I saw it but now it has been repaired!
We took a drive into the city and walked around the newly opened up Red Zone area, New Regent Street, April 24, 2013, Christchurch New Zealand.
The clock tower has historical and social significance and was erected in 1929, with a strong connection to prominent businessman and philanthropist Thomas Edmond who donated £5,000 toward the River Bank Improvement Scheme to commemorate his 50 years of business in Christchurch. The scheme comprised the clock tower and telephone cabinet/drinking fountain on Madras Street along with the band rotunda and shelter on the Cambridge Terrace riverbank upstream of Manchester Street.
Update – May 2012
As a result of the Canterbury earthquakes, the Edmonds Clock Tower has sustained cracking at two levels and the top section has moved. There is also moderate damage around the windows. In May 2012 the tower was carefully removed and placed on a bed of sand. A timber frame was put around it to stabilise the tower and tarpaulins kept the structure weatherproofed. The work was carried out by qualified tradespeople who worked closely with the Council’s heritage planners. All work carried out at the site was in line with the principles of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) 2012 New Zealand charter.
Update – April 2013
On 23 April 2013 the upper portion of the clock tower was lifted off its bed of sand and back onto its base. Repairs have been already done on the base structure and now the top has been re-settled, further work will be done to attach the two haves. Once the halves are firmly attached, additional repairs will continue on the whole structure. An estimated time for the full repairs to be complete is mid 2013. AAW: Emulate Alexey Titarenko
Used my strongest ND filter (ND8) on what was unfortunately a sunny day. I sat on a bench with my camera on a monopod and the remote in hand. A few people came by, but this one was the most interesting from this location. Desaturated and fiddled with curves until it started to look bleached.
I had never heard of Titarenko, but his work is incredible! Thanks Paul, for setting this assignment!

Got lost leaving Dean Kamen's house after the FIRST Founders Reception and came across this Stop (war) sign.
So we were driving to my sister house one night when we saw this. This cloud was getting all of the sunset colors and I had to capture it. Luckily we were going out for some night shooting so I had camera. We pulled off the highway and found a nice spot in the back of a fast food parking lot. Enjoy!

It's a STOP sign for crying out loud people. That means to STOP your vehicle, so that your wheels are **no longer moving**.
The definition says:
1. to cease from, leave off, or discontinue: to stop running.
2. to cause to cease; put an end to: to stop noise in the street.
That does NOT mean to slow down but your wheels are still rolling, or to ignore the sign completely just because there usually isn't any traffic on this road.
IT MEANS STOP!!!
I once heard a joke about how a guy was pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign. The cop came up and the guy says, "well I at least slowed down". The cop says, "step out of the car. I'm going to start beating on you, would you like me to STOP or slow down??"
