An excursion in Kyoto
Unusually for me and save for a tiny bit of sharpening, this is SOOC. I didn't know what to do with all the spare time on my hands!
On the second run of the day to Clyde, both the sun and the clouds came out for the arrival of 3642 and 4520. The train would halt here for a brief period whilst waiting for the points to change to allow the train to run reverse back to Central.

That's how you take photographs when you're stuck in stationary traffic. It's no fun, but sometimes, just sometimes... the light plays it just right for you.

Just driving by at night. Some people silouetted against some illuminated advertising in a municipal bus stop enclosure...
Most of the campus shuttle stops are fairly basic with one or two shelters. This is a shared stop served both by the NAU Jacks Line shuttle and Mountain Line route 10.

Situated on the Han River, Seoul's history stretches back more than two thousand years when it was founded in 18 BCE by Baekje, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. It continued as the capital of Korea under the Joseon Dynasty. The Seoul Capital Area contains five UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Changdeok Palace, Hwaseong Fortress, Jongmyo Shrine, Namhansanseong and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty.[12] Seoul is surrounded by mountains, the tallest being Mt. Bukhan.
The raised Post Office lettering shows up nicely in this shot of The Camel Stop in Quartzsite, Arizona. I think it's been a few days since the mail was delivered here.
The name of The Camel Stop is significant as it recalls the time when the U.S. Army experimented with using camels in a wagon train between Texas and California around 1855. A Syrian named Hadji Ali was assigned to train the soldiers in the use of camels and they called him Hi Jolly since they couldn't pronounce his name. The Camel Military Corps died with the opening shots of the Civil War. Most of the animals were auctioned off, although a few escaped into the desert where most were shot by prospectors and hunters as pests.
Hi Jolly kept a few and started a freighting business between the Colorado River ports and mining camps to the east. The business failed, however, and Jolly released his last camel in the desert near Gila Bend. Years later, after marrying a Tucson woman and fathering two children, Hi Jolly moved to Quartzsite where he mined with a burro. He died in 1902 at age 73 and was buried in the Quartzsite Cemetery.
To his dying day, Hi Jolly believed that a few of the camels still roamed the desert. Some people think the ghosts of some still do.

The poster design for start|stop, a student group art show organized by the Food for Thought Student Gallery (FFTSG). The original title of the show was start|stop: tuna noodle casserole, but I managed to convince the FFTSG that using such a confusing title for their opening show would not only deter the general public from entering, but will make the gallery organizers appear elitist. Ultiimately, FFTSG wanted their gallery to represent art for everybody by everybody, so they went with a title more appropriate to the show.
FFTSG is a student run group that has been around for a couple of years, but fell apart in the 2007-2008 school year. Near the end of the year, some Portland State University students found out that the FFTSG had been so mishandled by its governing body that the group risked loosing all funding and control of the gallery space. Since the people who were suppose to be stewards of the organization had abandoned the group, the students rushed in to fill the void in the last month of school. Thanks to those concerned students, the gallery was able to continue to showcase local artists.
To advertise the show, I also created a postcard for the Food for Thought Student Gallery.
