Hibiscus flowers have a complicated, and extensive, three-dimensional structure. I was fortunate to get all these parts as well-focused as they are, and I'm grateful. The yellow objects are anthers, bearing pollen. The five red globular structures are the stigmas, which catch pollen. And they are all on a stem, which, I guess, is either the style, the filaments, or both combined.

Found in the new Glasshouse at Wisley RHS garden, Surrey
These flowers are large and very noticeable. Here its bud is long and fully closed. The sepals are dark green and they are protectively holding the unopened flower like a mother holds her newborn child. The brown stem is strong and holds the flower perfectly!

Took my DIY flash diffuser out for a test-run today. Very happy with the soft lighting I was able to achieve.
