On Friday evening I went out with a Surrey Instagram group to Waverley Abbey in the pitch black and some of them very kindly demonstrated steel wool spinning and helped us with camera settings. Not all of us used DSLR's- some used a long exposure app on their phone.
This set of 4 were taken in the main part of the ruin. I have done some different edits on the colour balance. They vary from about 6 seconds up to 15 seconds.
We had to walk along the river bank in the dark to get here and got into the field to find several pairs of eyes- lots of cows sitting by the gate! They must have enjoyed the light show!
Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian Abbey in England founded in 1128 by the Bishop of Winchester.
I've been looking for a stairway to rotate for ages. Tonight we found a suitable stairway and it would have been rude not to spin steel wool on it! Thanks goes here to Lee for the spinnage!

I've been somewhat nervous about burning steel wool in a city environment but with everyone at Firejam setting fire to stuff, it seemed rude not to spark some steel wool....
I had a blast yesterday evening doing some steel wool photography on the Mon Wharf. I've always loved this style of photography and was pleased to be a part of it. We had a great spinner and a fantastic model.
I have made it to my parents home in Indiana, had to go out into the yard and spin some wool. Talk about cold, I left Florida yesterday morning and it was 78, and tonight here it was about 10 degrees out. This will be the only pic from this frigid evening.
This is something I have been so looking forward to trying but only got to take a few shots before rain stopped play :( Hoping to get out again soon and have another go as not totally happy with it. Thanks to my lovely hubby for doing the hardest bit :)

While visiting Indy, Aaron took us to a place near the white river. Since I flew up here this time, I wasn't able to carry light sticks on the plane, Dr. Tongs was kind enough to bring out his lights. Incredible meetup with him.

There is a street in Grand Junction that cuts across the middle of what used to be a meadow where sheep grazed. That is all gone now except for a small patch ground in the center of a traffic roundabout. There looking out from the past is a small flock of metal sculpted sheep. Note: I just added this to the flicker map.
