Though there are a decent number of people who do not like targeted advertisements, most of the people, as shown in the pie chart, prefer advertisements relating to their interests than they do advertisements which have no importance or significance to them.
I like sharing graphs that go up. Graphs that go down are not so cool.

Often as I'm listening to the news I just sit there and mull over how dehumanising statistics are.
We are continually bombarded with numbers - such as "100,000 sex slaves in the U.S." or something along those lines - but really, who can really digest a number like that? How often do you go somewhere where you see that many people at once? I mean, can we really relate to these numbers? Can we even relate to numbers, however big or small?
It scares me that we live in a time where numbers like "10" or "20" or "30 casualties" no longer shake us because those numbers sound so minuscule compared to those other gargantuan numbers that are constantly being thrown our way.
I've come to the conclusion that I loathe statistics. I acknowledge their importance in some aspects, but for the most part, statistics greatly debase those in question. The named turn into the nameless, the faces into the faceless, stories of human suffering into an inane number in black and white.
It's just important to me that we look beyond those numbers, and remember that to every digit, to every number, there is a face, and a name, and a story.

I was trying to figure out which tomato plants to save seeds from, to best select for higher productivity.
The stats essentially showed no difference between the plants aside from strong position-effects.

the statistics cover the last 7 days visits to The Wendy House. I was shocked to discover that 42 computers visit the blog between 51 and 100 times per week. That's loyal, I only visit the blog from one computer so I'm only one of those data point. That means 42 loyal readers... of 20 obsessive readers who real from more than one computer (home and work)
I pay for the AllTrails App, and I LOVE bushwalking / hiking, but I just didn't do any over 2024.... And I need to get my left foot checked out, as I think I broke it a few years ago, and it's never been right since!
