Madrid Atocha (Spanish: Estación de Madrid Atocha), also named Madrid Puerta de Atocha–Almudena Grandes, is the first major railway station in Madrid. It is the largest station serving commuter trains (Cercanías), regional trains from the south and southeast, intercity trains from Navarre, Cádiz and Huelva (Andalusia) and La Rioja, and the AVE high speed trains from Girona, Tarragona and Barcelona (Catalonia), Huesca and Zaragoza (Aragon), Sevilla, Córdoba, Málaga and Granada (Andalusia), Valencia, Castellón and Alicante (Levante Region). These train services are run by Spain's national rail company, Renfe. As of 2019, this station has daily services to Marseille, France.

On 11 March 2004, packed arriving commuter trains were bombed in a series of coordinated attacks, killing 193 people and wounding 1,800. The official investigation by the Spanish Judiciary determined the attacks were directed by a Islamist terrorist cell.

type: SS 3e klasse

“Fordite”, public art sculptures, by, Douglas Coupland, at Station Square,

Station Square, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada

The piece is, in fact, four separate stacks of blobs in the Station Square area of Metrotown—three shorter ones right outside JJ Bean and a fourth 50-foot one outside a new condo tower by developers Anthem and Beedie at the corner of Kingsway and McKay Avenue.

So what are the blobs, you ask? The blobs that form each kebab are oblong shapes exuding colour in patterns that evoke images of oil.

And that’s fitting, given that each blob is actually meant to represent a car.

The oily colour patterns actually come from an old automotive paint known as fordite, Detroit agate, or Motor City agate.

Coupland said he chose this style to honour a piece of Metrotown history, when, from 1938 to 1988, a Ford assembly plant operated in the area.

Awesome futurist metro station I found by casualty in Barcelona, L10 Ciutat Justícia, that seems like you are in a science fiction spaceship. The picture is taken with the reflection provoked by the door glass. L9 and L10 are two newly added lines in Barcelona that are very modern and futurist: the trains are automatic and the stations are pieces of art architecturally.

Grand Central Station is quite possibly one of the most beautiful buildings i've ever been in, the polished sandstone looks absolutely stunning and i don't think i've ever seen such a clean train station, it is immaculate.

I had a good wander around here but i'd love to explore the station a bit more, the dining concourse is extremely photogenic but i didn't have enough time to get a few shots down there.

It's a really busy place though so i used a series of long exposures and a bit of photoshop magic to remove all the people from the station.

NCTC 657's train moves from the storage yard to the San Diego passenger station. The lead F40, 2103, is the one we shot earlier in the morning. These things wore the Coaster livery well while they lasted.

Another shot from a recent visit to Station Cove Falls in upstate SC. My buddy, Woody, got this composition first and I liked it and decided to try one too.

It turned out to be a bit more difficult than I expected due to the lighting conditions. I first used three stacked images to attempt to get a better depth of field. I then blended in a 15 sec exposure of the waterfall as it looked better given the somewhat light flow of the waterfall. Then I needed to do quite a bit of dodging and burning to pull out the best of the image.

The hike to the falls is about a mile and is easy without much change in elevation. But if you go, do it after some good rains. Otherwise, you might find a trickle of water.

Thanks for viewing my photos. Comments are always welcome.

In the past, train stations were a kind of calling card. In Hochheim, a well-kept small town with wealthy inhabitants, the station is an eyesore.

Flal, 2 Steden-wandeltocht, Franeker 29 februari 2020.

This was taken at Hainault Station on the Central Line of the London Underground system. It is not photographed a lot possibly because it is close to the far end of the line. This beautiful Art Deco waiting area deserves more attention, Thanks go to contact Paki Nuttah for the location. If you pay close attention you will see that there is a few minutes difference between the 2 clocks. Looking at earlier pictures it looks to have been the same for at least the last 3 years. Still they would probably need to get a ladder up to change them.

The picture was taken handheld though resting on the seats with a Sony A700 with a sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. This was a single image with a shutter speed of 1/5 second for the train movement.

This picture was processed first in RAW and then in Topaz DeNoise and Clarity. Further edits were made to Hue Saturation and Colour Balance in Photoshop aiming for the most natural looking colours.

Long Island Railroad's Plandome Station (and Post Office) is all decked out for the Christmas holidays in 1978. In 1987 an 18 year old kid torched the structure. A new masonary replacement with similar looks was opened in 1990.

With a couple of hours spare, my wife and I decided to do something we've not done for ages and took to the road, just for the sake of a drive.

I took this shot from the footbridge of York Station after we called for a cuppa at the old station signal box, now a Costa Coffee.

Norwich Railway Station. Grade 2 listed, opened as Norwich Thorpe in 1886 and designed by John Wilson and W N Ashbee. It was the terminus of the Great Eastern Line (now Greater Anglia). It replaced an earlier smaller station on the Great Yarmouth to Norwich route which opened in 1844 and closed when the new Norwich Thorpe Station opened.

Excerpt from Wikipedia:

Bergen Station (Norwegian: Bergen stasjon) is the main railway station in the city of Bergen, Norway. It is a terminal station on the Bergen Line, and serves trains from Oslo as well as the Bergen Commuter Rail from Arna, Voss and Myrdal. It is located on the east side of the city centre and has four platforms. The station was opened in 1913, four years after the Bergen Line itself opened.

The station building is one of the grandest in Norway. The architect, Jens Zetlitz Monrad Kielland, designed it in the National Romantic style. He also designed Gamlehaugen, and the stone buildings at Bryggen. The building has been protected against non-trivial modifications since 2003.

Having been established in 1921, Norsk Spisevognselskap attempted to find a suitable location for a restaurant in Bergen. There was at the time a small restaurant in the station building, but there was not sufficient space for storage of food. Because of high real estate prices in the area, Norsk Spisevognselskap instead established a kiosk at the station on 1 May 1922.

The same year, 1922, the company contemplated to establish a hotel near the railway station. The plan materialised in the construction of Hotel Terminus, which was owned in part by NSB, in part by Spisevognselskapet and in part by other parties.

On 2 April 1937, Spisevognselskapet established a restaurant in the station.
