What did you expect, another underwater photo?

But seriously, this is important. So we picked the most expensive of European lemonades and did the big taste test. Judges were me, my wife, 6 year old and 11 year old kids. Sadly, no clear winner. All were so good, just different. Oh, and when my wife got wind of what we were doing, she pulled the large bottle out of the competition since she needs it for constant evening cocktails.

How the photo was done: I told my son to go and put on a proper shirt. He didn't even know he owned one. Next, camera was set on manual and photos were taken at different speed/f stop combinations with flash. To add a bit of drama and zwoosh (pull) the viewer into the Great Challenge, I rotated the zoom barrel on the lens during a slow exposure. The effect adds a bit more zing to an otherwise posed and static shot.

NOTE- I HAD OBTAINED A TEMPORARY BLOCK TO TRAFFIC OF THE DOWN LINE IN VIEW VIA THE SIGNALMAN AT DALWHINNIE.

This power car failure is 3 rolled into one. Its named Highland Chieftain, working the Highland Chieftain ,failing in the land of the Highland Chieftain!

On approach to the summit this rear locomotive shut down because of a serious failure of its hydro static system.

After carrying out the necessary procedures we continued our journey south to Edinburgh with only the leading locomotive( 43238) operating.

The train was terminated at Edinburgh.

So, I catch very few of these in flight, but I did manage to pick up on this one hanging out…. literally…. over Horsepen Bayou. He/she did show off beautifully on this particular day and stuck around until I had to reach for the paddle to make some adjustments to the path of the canoe.

a long time ago it was a gift-

to see and hear every strain of static,

and to slip through untouched and untouchable phantom.

but there's the occasional snare and tangle-

the sound too beautiful not to hear,

the sight too powerful to turn away from-

a million or so feathered gods

scatter overhead-

a cacophony of skyline dispersion,

a dream in sweetest disguise.

and it all fades to snow on the television,

the rustle in the late-night a.m. radio tunings...

P2V-5F / P-2E, BuNo 128393, on static display at the former NAS Moffett Field (now Moffett Federal Airfield).

Originally delivered as a P2V-5 in 1953, 128393 returned to Lockheed in 1955 for addition of two J34 jet engines and a new designation, P2V-5F.

128393 continued to serve with patrol squadrons (VP) until 1960, when it was one of at least nine P2V-5Fs modified to carry, launch and control drones. In this new role, 128393 was designated P2V-5FD, which became DP-2E after 1962.

Here is a picture of 128393 in action as a drone controller:

128393 continued to serve in the drone controller mission until it was transferred to NAS Moffett Field in 1978, where it was stricken from the inventory. It was then placed on permanent display, where the weather and bird droppings took their toll over the following decades.

In this photo, 128393 carries the name of RADM Charles O. Prindle, who held a number of important patrol aviation commands during his Navy career. One of his sons, Brian C. Prindle, also achieved the rank of Rear Admiral, and has also held important patrol commands.

As of January 2015, 128393 has been removed from public view and is reportedly undergoing a cosmetic restoration.

Photographed at Moffett Federal Airfield, August 1996.

When we went for a bushwalk on the day of my birthday, I thought I would see lots of lizards sunning themselves on the rocks, but I didn't see any. Imagine our surprise when later in the day we came onto our verandah and there was a baby blue tongue lizard running arround. We gave it some fruit and then put it in the garden. This little one was about 25 cms long, and we occasionally see the adult ones in the garden. The adults can grow to a length of around 40 cms. To see a really amazing photo of a blue tongue lizard look at this photo taken by another Flickr member called Goooflex :
