Taken at the Steampunk Symposium held at the Holiday Inn Eastgate in the Eastgate area of Cincinnati, Ohio.
"Static Guy" provided our introduction to the world of Steampunk several years ago and has been a fixture at all the events we've attended ever since. We always enjoy seeing him and catching up a bit. He made his head dress using a 3D printer.

This well-preserved F-89 is on static display at the Great Falls Montana International Airport by the Montana Air National Guard gate. Some more information on the F-89 from wikipedia: "From Wikipedia: The Northrop F-89 Scorpion was an American all-weather interceptor built during the 1950s, the first jet-powered aircraft designed as such from the outset to enter service.[3] Though its straight wings limited its performance, it was among the first United States Air Force (USAF) jet fighters equipped with guided missiles and notably the first combat aircraft armed with air-to-air nuclear weapons (the unguided Genie rocket)."

So, I catch very few of these in flight, but I did manage to pick up on this one hanging out…. literally…. over Horsepen Bayou. He/she did show off beautifully on this particular day and stuck around until I had to reach for the paddle to make some adjustments to the path of the canoe.

a long time ago it was a gift-
to see and hear every strain of static,
and to slip through untouched and untouchable phantom.
but there's the occasional snare and tangle-
the sound too beautiful not to hear,
the sight too powerful to turn away from-
a million or so feathered gods
scatter overhead-
a cacophony of skyline dispersion,
a dream in sweetest disguise.
and it all fades to snow on the television,
the rustle in the late-night a.m. radio tunings...
