It may be 17 years since I sold anything, and I'm exempt from having to picket. But I still carry a Guild card (proof that someone once liked something I wrote enough to pay real money for it). And I believe the writers are RIGHT in their fight to hold on to their hardwon residuals, insurance and pension benefits.

My work has always had a strong personal element drawing upon my experiences

which I have used to bring authenticity to what I make. Ever since the beginning of

my Art Foundation course in September I have expanded my ideas from my Fine Art

A Level which was largely about developing skills. I always aim to ensure my work is

extremely meaningful to the viewer, to stir questions about my work and its ideas,

I think this is important in creating a good piece of artwork which will be

remembered. I feel that if people feel empathy when they experience artwork it will

live for longer in their thoughts. However, I have started to feel like I want to bring

more of my ideas and responses to politics into the work. I am currently researching

this so I can combine the emotive ideas I have with themes which will affect peoples

preconceptions about society. I believe that art has the potential to evoke powerful

ideas and enrich peoples understanding.

I am aware of artists who challenge ideas and I am interested in the part art has to

play in helping people to think through the limitations that are imposed upon them.

I have been influenced in this respect by the book '1984' which I have returned to

recently, the themes around control and censorship are particularly relevant to an

art student. I am looking to bring these controversial ideas to people visually so I can

learn from their responses and understand my relationship to the audience.

I am fortunate that during this time I am aspiring to be an up and coming artist,

because this is a perfect time for new revolutionary artists and ideas to come

forward and be influential in the contemporary art world. Especially as I plan for my

future development of work to have strong political meaning, exploring the effect of

this on society. During this present economic and political climate the perfect background is in

place for a questioning/reflective artist. Controversial art works are becoming more accepted

and enjoyed throughout the art world, as peoples' thoughts and feelings on this

subject are becoming more vocal through various means. Political art is something I

am planning to explore as a subject, I have a good knowledge and keep up to date

with current events and would like to reflect my thoughts and feelings on these

through my future work.

Your Universities Critical Fine Art course will give me the perfect opportunity to

expand my creative ideas independently through practice and importantly through

theory. I believe that the theory and meaning behind art is extremely important in

understanding the intention and consequences of Art. Crucially, I am eager to learn

from my peers and to be a part of a community of like-minded students who will

push each other forward through healthy competition and support. This is one of the

most attractive things about university study, especially since I would relish the

opportunity to work in collaboration, as I’ve not had the opportunity before.

Dr. Jatinder Baidwan, chief coroner, has released the following statement regarding the decision to direct an inquest into the events that occurred in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10, 2026:

“On the afternoon of Feb. 10, 2026, an entire community was forever changed and multiple families who call Tumbler Ridge home received the catastrophic news that their loved ones had lost their lives.

“The news that an individual had killed two adults and six children in a private residence and a local secondary school quickly spread across national and international media. With that, came passionate public discussions about mental health and possible gaps in support systems.

“It is with this in mind that I have reflected on the BC Coroners Service’s responsibility to reinforce confidence in the system and support public safety in British Columbia when it comes to all sudden, unnatural and unexpected deaths, and all children’s deaths.

“That is why, pursuant to Section 18 of the Coroners Act, I am directing a coroner’s inquest to publicly review the circumstances that led to nine individuals losing their lives in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10.

“An inquest will provide an independent and transparent forum to publicly examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, assess systemic and procedural issues, and make evidence-based recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future. Importantly, it will involve the participation of the people in British Columbia through a jury of five to seven people.

“My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. The grief they are experiencing at this time is unimaginable. The BC Coroners Service will continue to work with the families and the community of Tumbler Ridge to make sure their needs are met and their questions answered.

“An announcement with more details about the timing of the inquest will be provided once our investigative phase is concluded.”

I don't the person should have damaged a tree to make their opinion known. Just thought it was interesting to run into this on the walk.

Complete redesign of Capital One statement. The brief was to reduce the amount of paper wastage using one colour overprinting, the ultimate goal being to be able to produce a one page statement if there was minimal activity on the account. The new grid system was designed to incorporate varied amounts of messaging for the broad range of customers and also enabled the inclusion of NoDs messaging, negating the need for costly separate letters to be sent out.

This is a photo from a set of photos taken at the St. Patricks Day Parade 2012 in New York City. The Irish love beer, green, funny head gear and have loads of fun..I hope you like this set.. I had lot of fun covering this day.

19 handmade crosses purchased from different suppliers in New Mexico are interspersed between high quality turquoise nuggets. Show stopper!

While taking this picture, I was attempting to demonstrate the balance of the beauty, yet relentlessness of nature. As the dog is staring angrily at the camera, the dead, unforgiving background creates a cruel, hard world. This statement also speaks of the interdependent balance of domesticated animals, as they depend on their owner just as much as the owner depends on them. Without the other, one would surely experience the harshness of the everyday world.
