My Senior Gallery Art Show

Expressing your own beliefs and opinions in a visual manner is an important aspect of being human. Art is my passion. It is instrumental in my worship practice and it leaves me feeling invigorated in such a way that I wonder what my life would be like without it. I thank God for such a wonderful opportunity to do what I feel so passionate about.

From the initial process of each work to the painting on the walls, I derived a way in which I can be authentic in my views and still be able to reach a wider audience by using layouts and simple color palettes. Graphic novels have become an interesting addition to the art world and presenting my show in such a manner provokes the viewer to look at art in new ways. Using elements of graphic design and simplified symbolic representations of various ideas also create a certain aspect to the overall affect of the gallery space including color choice. White symbolizes healing, life; the good. Black represents the darker aspects of life; death, brokenness and other difficulties we encounter. Lastly, red is a reference to the blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

As a Christian Artist, I am called to use my gifts, given by God, for communication. My challenge is to create work that speaks to those unfamiliar with my faith and to also use symbolism that most Christians would find familiar. In my dilemma, to challenge everyone while using Christian inspiration, I needed to be aware that not all people are going to see my work as I would want it to be seen. With this in mind, I saw a wonderful opportunity to reach out to Christians and non-Christians alike, by producing art that is not “blatantly” Christian. By using universal ideas of faith like those expressed in my poetry and a simple color palette, I hope that all persons, regardless of faith will spend as much time contemplating the work as Christians would.

There is another element to the work that is important to me as an individual. It is very much a representation of my own personal struggle in finding my way around the fears of going to college on my own, not truly knowing what I want to study, and having tremendous doubt in my abilities as an artist and as an intellectual. With these struggles I encountered depression, as some of you might be familiar with. Making new friends, increased stress levels, class work, and exams, there will always be a challenge to make it through but we are struggling through them together. So with that said this work is an attempt to challenge you, and to inspire you to think about who you are. Challenge is a way in which we grow to find ourselves and I feel that through challenge we find ourselves facing a strengthened mind, spirit, and faith which brings us closer to God.

My hope, through this explanation and your own exploration of the gallery space, is that you might devote some reflective time on points in your life that were difficult to get through. With these difficulties in mind I hope that you would be thankful for making it through each one and realize that maybe you grew into a better person.

Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).

They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.

Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power, Shared Presentations Stage 3, Thematic Arena 3, Opportunity petal, an IAEA Statement Event at the United Nations Climate Change Conference UNCCC held at the Expo City Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Blue Zone, 1 December 2023

The IAEA Event: Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power will highlight the crucial role of nuclear power as part of the energy mix. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi will announce the ‘IAEA Statement on Nuclear Power’ supported by 40 countries, both those already operating nuclear power plants and newcomers. Together these countries acknowledge that all available low-carbon technologies, including nuclear power, should be recognized, and actively supported. The Statement underlines the benefits of nuclear power, including that nuclear power plants produce no harmful greenhouse gas emissions; that nuclear energy contributes to energy security and the stability of power grids; and that it mitigates air pollution at a local level.

Artist Statement

This portfolio represents my exploration of light, texture, and perspective. Through these seven images, I aimed to capture both the quiet and the dynamic moments that surround us daily, from natural landscapes to urban environments.

Each photograph was chosen to reflect a balance between observation and emotion. Some images focus on movement and energy, while others emphasize stillness and contemplation. I intended the sequence to create a visual rhythm, inviting the viewer to move through the portfolio with both attention and curiosity.

Photography, for me, is a way to notice the unnoticed—to see beauty in everyday moments, patterns, and contrasts. This collection represents my creative journey, highlighting the ways I interpret the world visually while developing my technical and artistic voice.

Statement pieces are hot this fall. But, this necklace and earring set will stay hot all year long, and for many years to come. This unique round swirl design is embellished with a gorgeous shell center on the pendant and rhinestone center on the earrings. It's absolutely irresistible.
