more instances of the various aurora borealis appearances we were so lucky to witness during our stay in the Arctic region of Norway.

Mother Nature can be hard to explain, she is a figure who symbolizes our earth and the beauty of nature. Many see her as our supreme mother, who has created the wonders and gifts of nature that we are so lucky to live among.

"Mother Nature is always speaking. She speaks in a language understood within the peaceful mind of the sincere observer."

In 2017 I was looking to move my life in a different direction. I contacted Royce Bair and booked a private workshop with him. I wanted to learn astro photography and I have always believed you should get the best to learn from. This is my very first "Nightscape" I have reprocessed with all I have learned in the past four and half years.

"...

When in the twinkling of an eye,

From palpable obscurity

Tumultuous streams of glory gushed,

Ten thousand thousand rainbows rushed

And revelled through the boundless sky,

In jousting, flashing radiancy.

Careering around the welkin's brim

Like bright embattled Seraphim;

Or soaring up to the dome of Night,

Flooding the Milky-way with light;

Or streaming down on the mountain peaks,

On the muirland wastes, and the heather brakes;

On lake and river, on tower and tree,

Showering a sky-born galaxy,

Like a storm of pearls and diamonds driven,

Imbued with the gorgeous hues of heaven!

- The Aurora Borealis

I went up to the Bristlecones with the intention of getting this shot. Well, so did a few others. I first met Lisa and Jeff, and then another group of photographers wandered in. It was great, though, got lots of good advice and perfect light painting.To top it off a spectacular meteor streaked across the sky during an exposure to all of us "oohing and ahhing".

Aurora Borealis, the fickle Dame of unreliable reputation, showed once more mercy with us night time wanderers and gave us some furtive glimpses of her ethereal beauty before deciding to make a full appearance about half an hour later :)

Waverly Abbey near Farnham in Surrey last night during an attempt of shooting the Perseides shower, which turned out rather unsuccessful with thick clouds quickly settling in. Instead we had some fun with the beautiful old ruins of the abbey. Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian abbey in England. It was founded in 1128 by William Giffard, Bishop of Winchester.

Last night we had clear skies on the Lofoten islands which could only mean that there had to be some aurora appearances somewhere. As soon as we had established ourselves in a sport by our favourite fjord, we spotted the first signs over this magnificent peak. Half an hour later the aurora was in full display. I shot more than 100 images of ever changing aurora over the diverse peaks of the frozen fjord which did not offer reflective waters, but the night skies, the stars, the beauty of those snow-covered peaks and the aurora should be a worthy object of contemplation for any nature lover :)

and yet more impressions of the ever changing aurora borealis, this from near Russelv in the Arctic region of Norway.

✫I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night✫

In the summer sky, the constellation Cassiopeia is immediately recognisable by its famous ‘W’ shape. In my photograph, taken on the night of 22 July 2022, we can see its five main stars - Caph, Schedar, Cih, Ruchbah and Segin - aligned like a luminous signature above the north-eastern horizon. From our latitudes, Cassiopeia is circumpolar: it never sets completely and rotates slowly around the North Star, simply changing orientation as the hours go by. Beyond its silhouette, Cassiopeia is a gateway to the Milky Way. In this field, the dust and gas of our galaxy form a diffuse glow where stars are born and gather. Cassiopeia is home to a number of deep-sky objects, including the open cluster M52, rich in stars as tightly packed as a handful of diamonds, and the nebula NGC 281, nicknamed ‘Pacman’, which can be seen at longer exposures or in very dark skies. Cassiopeia also lies on the border of famous constellations - Cepheus, Perseus and Andromeda - making it an ideal landmark for navigating from target to target.

Once more the betuwe region in the Netherlands. A nice clear night and an old shed should do the trick.

Took this image last week as a composite, up at cochno hill I took the foreground at the end of sunset nearly into blue hour. I waited about 1 hour 30 minutes hoping for the clouds to part and I was lucky they did.

Another image from a night out on the Lofoten islands it great Aurora displays.

We went back to Waverley Abbey ruinssome nights ago and found the whole solitary place bathed in light from the almost full moon. This of course was not of much help for getting any more Perseides shower shots, but then I thought this palce looks so perfect in moon light, it is worth getting some more shots :)
