First day of October.

This Great Horned owl starts to take a defensive posture, apparently towards a potential threat in the distance.

At the container terminal in Bremerhaven there are many container gantry cranes. This one is still a very old one, which was built as a grid tube construction to bring less weight to the pier. With today's requirements, such a bridge is no longer sufficient. Completely different dimensions and designs are required.

“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.”

-- George S. Patton

There is a special kind of exhilaration one feels looking down at a majestic mountainous landscape, especially when getting the opportunity has involved the challenges of long and strenuous climbing. The man in this picture did not have to climb much - the top of the rock he is standing on is maybe 20 feet above the walking path, very close to the parking lot. That's what I thought before studying the photo in detail. And then I had noticed that apparently the man's arms are missing. That, of course, changes everything: the picture gets a new meaning with the depth of the man's life story; his proud stance suddenly becomes real - and inspiring.

Since my last upload historical events have taken place. The people of Great Britain have decided to leave the European Union, and yesterday we remembered those who were injured and lost there lives in the "Battle of the Somme".

My image is a tribute to all that strive to make Great Britain a country to be proud of!

A shot I took in Denmark in a park in Copenhagen. A funny moment because this heron had something hanging on its beak that was rather large.

I was very curious to see how on earth he could get this through his throat but unfortunately the heron saw me, and decided to hide behind some shrubbery.

That was not easy, he stumbled into the reed, hardly able to lift of.

Lone tree standing, very proud

Wrapped in natures, wild shroud

Waiting under the midday sun

For the wind to slowly run

Through its branches, that do sway

As the birds head its way

To rest their wings on its green

To gaze upon, their kingdom seen

That does stretch, so far away

As the clouds, they do play

In the skies, that i do see

In Aguas Calientes the hillsides are steep and the railway line runs along the bottom of the valley, which also happens to be a commercial district. I was surprised (although I don't know why) to see a mixed train standing in the street while men swarmed around unloading the freight cars. Prepare to see the unexpected in colourful Peru, you'll not be disappointed.
