Tony Kofi is exploring the classic jazz standards songbook with his newly formed trio, Standard time, this time with Tony playing the Tenor saxophone, featuring David Chamberlain (Double Bass) and Rod Youngs (Drums)
The group plays classic jazz standards rearranged to give that fresh sounds of today and with an organic freedom that will take you on a musical journey, whilst utilising every instrument to its fullest range. Kofi displays an innate ability to swing using hooks and grooves whilst never losing the essence to sound original. Dave Chamberlain is simply one of the best bass players in the country, his tone is exemplary, his lines supportive, he swings hard, and his solos are musical statements. Rod Youngs swings, and swings hard. He punctuates with a crisp grace that keeps the whole show tight and to the point.
We're very happy to be welcoming Tony back to the Crypt. You can guarantee an awesome display of jazz from this great musician.

The FBI raiding a private currency producer and seizing the assets? 2007? No, actually, 1993. The Kansas City Star reported that the FBI seized about $100,000 in gold, silver and platinum in a raid of the Gold Standard Corporation. In the 80s, the Gold Standard Corp was the country's private minter. But despite their pictures being on their "coins" and "Gold Standard Certificates", Nicholas Deak, Henry Hazlitt, and E.C. Harwood had nothing to do with Gold Standard Corp.
Gold Standard Corp was the brainchild of Conrad J. Braun (1960 - Present). Created in 1976, he promoted his company to investors and hard-money proponents. Incestors woul.d mail in monthly paymkents to be used in buying gold, silver or platinum. Once an investor's account totaled $2,500, he would mail the metals to the investor or store them in his vault in Kansas City. In 1980, Gold Standard had enough money to buy miliions of dollars in gold bullion from the U.S. Treasury, which he then minted and sold to investors as an inflation hedge.
In the mid-80s, gold prices crash. Braun, according to prosecutors in 1994, alleged that he took his investor's money and gambled on commodoty futures. But his temper brought him down before anyone caught on - he was jailed in 1991 for harassing his ex wife. Amazingly, he continued to run Gold Standard from prison.
In 1993, his employees contacted the FBI. Seems that out of the $2 million in precious metals he was supposed to have, he only had about $100,000. In 1984, he plead guilty to 10 counts of fraud.
And where is he now? His legal difficulties continue to this day - just wander over to your favorite search engine and look for "Bumble Bee Braun."
As for the innocent souls he immortalized on his coins and currency?
Nicholas Deak (1905-1985) was a banker and founder of an internationally renowned retail currency-exchange service and dealer in precious metals.
