Walking around in a vineyard and spotted this one singular grape shining amongst the leaves as if it were special somehow. So I took a picture of a very special grape. Fifteen seconds of fame?

This male vermilion flycatcher (Pyrocephalus rubinus) is perched on a mesquite tree near Coons Bluff on Arizona's Salt River and waiting for his chance to grab some bugs! They dart very quickly from their perch to the air and back while hunting. It's a very hard thing to catch with still photographs!

"A feathered ember in a desert landscape, the male Vermilion Flycatcher is exactly what its name says: a brilliant red bird that hawks flying insects from conspicuous perches on shrub tops and fences. Females are delightful in their own way, subtle gray-brown birds with a warm salmon-red blush to the underparts. Though they barely reach the southwestern U.S., this species is common all the way through Central America and much of South America. Watch for the male's high, fluttering flight display and listen for his twittering display song."
Our Dragon Standout this week is Kimberly Gregson! She is a dedicated member of many clubs on campus such as: Head Dragon Tutor, Off the Leash, and Key Club. She is also a member of JBLA, leading her fellow peers and encouraging them.
Kimberly is very involved in two research projects: one in genetics at the University of South Alabama and one in the ASMS Paleontology Lab. She is a collections manager in the ASMS Paleontology lab and hopes to pursue a career in Wildlife Biology.

Black bear dropping showing undigested berries from the night or day before..... a couple of weeks ago around 9:00 pm, an adult bear was walking around my deck and I though it was a person wearing black pants and too bad the camera was not around.... bear country around the northeast !
