Handheld outside on Tilghman Island, Maryland on a rainy and windy day as Tropical Storm Andrea dumped five inches of rain on the area. Focusing on the bloom made the emerging buds behind it look like tiny planets floating in a galaxy of black.

A standout in both basketball and softball, Kim Brown-Augustine was a two-time first-team All-OAC selection in both sports. She ranks third all-time in scoring for women’s basketball with 1,568 points and is tops with 15 career triples in softball. She is a member of the College’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Following a standout career at Overton High School in Memphis and two high-scoring years at the nearby U. of Mississippi, Neumann became the first player in basketball history to sign a hardship clause when he signed a five-year, $2 million contract with the Memphis Pros of the American Basketball Association.

Granny Squares are a Crochet staple and can be used for so many projects, although blankets are my favorite. I have seen many fabulous purses, amigurumi , pillows, scarves, and even lamp shade covers! They are so versatile and can add such detail to a project.

It was a dark Saturday, even at midday. The snow switched to sleet, then back to snow, then teased me with a few raindrops before becoming sleet and snow combined. The sun tried fighting through the dark grey clouds, but not with much heart; it gave up quickly and then the snowflakes fell fatter.
Meantime, this little snow queen caught my eye. Wild carrot? I prefer Queen Anne's lace. Wearing a mantle of snow, she looked regal indeed, and beautiful despite the dark day in winter.
I always wonder what makes the Golden Gate Bridge so special. Is it because of its reputation of being the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was built ? Or is it because it is the symbol of the city of San Francisco? I have been to the Hawk Hill vista point more than a dozen times now and each time I have been there, I have always had the urge to reach out for my camera to take "one more shot" of the bridge. Last weekend was no different. As I looked through my cameras view finder to compose this frame, I saw a dull grey sky, a patch of dried yellow grass in the foreground and a few sail boats drifting along the blue waters of the bay. In the middle of all these colors, the vibrant and aesthetically pleasing structure of the bridge stood out. Painted in "International Orange", a color specifically chosen to increase its visibility to passing ships, the contrasting color of the Golden Gate Bridge is, in my mind, what makes this bridge really unique. Here is an attempt to portray how my mind's eye saw this scene.
At the edge of the Schulenberg Prairie, this lone tulip stands tall and bright. I can't imagine how it got there, since tulips aren't known to be prairie plants and I haven't seen on in this spot in the six years I've been visiting the Morton Arboretum.
