I guess this tree figured it had to do something to get people to take a picture of it.
If you haven't yet been to Muir Woods, it's worth it - just try to go on a weekday. My only option was Saturday morning and the entire world was there - truly, I must have heard a dozen different languages - but all the same it was kind of nice to be around people, on such a solo trip. I went in search of two The Shots, but kept an open mind and this turned out to be one of my favorite photos from the morning.
This tree really stood out against the stone of this old church....

It's Ryder Cup time again. This was taken during a practice round at the 2012 Cup at Medina Country Club in northern Illinois, near Chicago.
The standout foliage on this oak tree won't last much longer.
Two days later: prediction fulfilled; sadly, almost all the leaves had fallen from the tree.
A standout variety that produces brilliant pink, perfectly formed blooms, over dark glossy green, healthy foliage; well suited for landscaping, for containers, or a low flowering hedge
I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it.

homeless esther from the bay area. esther was going up to people asking for money as i walked up. her boyfriend was standing nearby. esther says "why do you want to take my picture? because i look strange?"

I took this some time ago while we visited Mrs Mails Auntie in a country town.
The background disturbed me so I blurred it more and popped the flower a bit.
OK you asked for it
Use the PS magic wand with contiguous unticked, and select some background colour. Select the "add to" and select the remaining background colour variants until all the background is selected. This is easy to do when there is a good contrast between foreground and background.
Apply a strong Gaussian blur to the selected area. Invert the selected area (ie the rose) and tweak the levels slightly, in this case for a bit more brightness. The colour tint is SOOC.
The combination of these steps made the flower pop out a bit from the background.
Took about 5 minutes.
