Tom, a week before, had gotten out of the hospital after a weeks stay with an infected gall bladder and had resumed his Kemo treatments for pancreatic cancer. He has lost a lot of weight and stamina but remains in high spirits. We make quite a pair!.. Him with his walking sticks and me hobbling along on a worn and painful hip!
If you are so inclined, I ask for your prayers for Tom!

Bald Cypress trees can live to be over 600 years old.
The Atchafalaya Basin in South Louisiana contains a multitude of these who've weathered & withstood countless and treacherous hurricanes over the years......
The fact that this gnarly old Bald Cypress still stands bare, all alone, and without protection surely reveals its tenacity, stamina & endurance......
No doubt it’s seen many, many moons pass over…..like the waning crescent in the background. Hopefully it’ll see decades more…..

This weeks Macro Mondays theme is Summer Olympics sports.
Goals and outcomes. When I think of the Summer Olympics, these two words come to mind.
Athletes from all over the world come together once every four years to compete in these games, and all of them have goals. Whether those goals are to win a medal, represent their country with a display of good sportsmanship, or to achieve a personal best in their event, these athletes have put in many hours and even years to try and achieve these goals.
At the end of the competitions, there are outcomes. These outcomes occur based on many factors. Health, weather, concentration, stamina, and even the wind, can play a part in these outcomes.
These two drops are a reminder that some of the summer olympic sports were held in less than ideal environments, and may have affected some outcomes.
I would think that the goal of the pool caretakers would be to have pools filled with crystal clear water. Due to some algae, two of the event pools turned green.

This shot really did tax my stamina. I had to slog my way all of about 400m from the front door of the hotel weighed down by a hearty breakfast to grab this shot. Just a case of picking some foreground and positioning the trees then waiting. Initially the Buckle was in solid shade but then the sun rose enough to start blasting through some gaps and travel across the landscape. I took a number of shots but picked this one for the position of the light and the clear peak.

The so-called New Walls of Genoa are an amazing artifice of early seventeenth-century engineering. Towering high above the city on the rims of hills for about 20 km they served to protect Genoa from any enemies landside. In the distance is Fort Sperone, named for the defensive prow of a ship, its rostrum.
When those wall were built the hillsides would have been devoid of trees and shrubbery in order to give a clear view of what was happening below. Obviously they became useless in military's modern age. Nature has reclaimed much and the walls are all but overgrown. But Fort Sperone remained in use by various governmental departments until well into the twentieth century.
You can take a wonderful walk along those walls if you've the stamina. In hot weather you'd wish to be a light Butterfly.
In the insets two of very many that I saw today. On the left Pale Clouded Yellow, Colias hyale, and on the right really very pretty Marble White, Melanargia galathea.

Surfing is fun but beside balance and patience it take determination, stamina, practice and willingness to fight thrue breaking waves just so you get find a good vantage point for you 5 or ten second ride. I took this from the pier in Oceanside, California. on a winter day.
