On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, I took this photo of the Hong Kong-registered freighter Pilatus Venture anchored near Stanley Park. Then, to my surprise, I read that about 9:15 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, the ship had issued emergency calls about a man going overboard!!
The Canadian Coast Guard has [now] suspended its search and rescue operation[...]. The Coast Guard hovercraft Moytel, as well as the Coast Guard vessel Laredo Sound and smaller fast-response boats, including the North Vancouver Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue boat ended their exhaustive search of Burrard Inlet near Lions Gate Bridge for signs of the missing man [...].
The incident, which has now been handed over to the RCMP and Vancouver Police Department, is now considered a missing persons case [...]
