This is a stacked photo, using approx. 80 pictures. It's a beetle found in Sweden. The whole head is only 3 mm long (0.118 inches)
Stacked trees in the forrest, just off the road, a secluded part of my ride (good place for a quick "pit stop").
I've never tried the stacking technique to achieve low noise long exposure shots. This is 20 x 2" exposures at f2.8 on a 28mm (around 35mm equiv on D100).
Cheated by putting half of the stacked layers in a group and masking them out to allow for a "shorter" exposure on the city to maintain detail and not blowing it out while retaining the blue in the sky as well as the airplane trails.
This photo was created by stacking 5 different photos with 5 different focus point to achieve the sharpness with great DOF

Testing continues, this time its the salad round. This is an avocado, mango, cherry tomato, and cilantro salad with a red chili ginger vinaigrette with chip. The flavors worked so well together. Its very refreshing. This was version one without the shrimp. Version two was the same thing, but with a jumbo prawn simply dressed with s&p, red chilies, and paprika. I think this one is a keeper, but I think when next I make it I will mash the mangos and tomato layers. You can use chunky layers with things like meat because they naturally have a sticky quality about their texture that holds together well in a stacked salad, but fruits do not. Unless I add some form of heavy cream based dressing, which I think would ruin the effect, I'm going to need to mash it more like the avocado so it holds. The other option is a BLT and avocado salad which does have a creamy Caesar style dressing but I want to do mini blt's too, so I'll leave this as is but with smoother layers. You can see from the other version with the shrimp that it looks all over the place crazy.
