Hand held very very experimental.. Not too bad considering the odds.. more a quick and dirty attempt at collecting suitable images for the focus stacking process.. Next time I need bellows and a stable camera platform. :)

Our Daily Challenge - Mar 4, 2012 - "Stacks"

This was fun!

I was pretty much at a loss until late afternoon when I decided to see if I could pick up some pale/pastel fabric at the fabric store, as I tend to prefer the darker tones and that's pretty much all I have save white and pink (for Valentine's day.)

While I was there, I found this lovely blue&white check fleece (love fleece - it hangs nicely, doesn't cause glare, and tents to resist wrinkling.)

Anyway, with fabric in hand, I started thinking I'd go with an "It's a Boy!" baby theme. Alas, on returning home, I realized son's baby stuff is in a box or two (or ten) and not at all accessible.

So I rummaged through the puppy bin (Yes, I have one. Yes, it is accessible. Stop laughing.) and came up with some pastel toys.

(Hint: rubber bands work wonders to hold woolie toys together when you want to stack them and have them stay stacked!)

For whatever reason, the boys got a kick out of this shoot, and a good time was had by all.

Stack and Slash "empilhe e corte"

Mais um trabalho terminado. Esta técnica é muito legal, pois você nem faz idéia de como irá ficar os blocos, tudo é uma grande surpresa.

Materials from a school project in Evesham. Photos taken by students through the town and along the river were merged using the Focus Stacking tools in Photoshop. They were then printed out for use in a giant collage.

Warren, Connecticut. After splitting and stacking firewood all day I decided to "take my beer" on the bridge with beach chair and camera on tripod. The bridge (which crosses our stream) is situated close to two feeders, this tube and a wooden feeder with suet. My goal was woodpeckers and my plan was to stick it out until I got a few, or the bugs got me, whichever came first.

Of course, the more beer you drink, the less you care about bugs and even woodpeckers. I figured I was safe as long as camera rig and I didn't fall into the stream.

The woodpeckers came while I was dozing off but this little bugger made a big fuss and woke me up.

Anne and I have a hard time differentiating downy and hairy woodpeckers. Both are on the small side (downies are smallest) and both males have a red dot on the back of their heads. I'm pretty sure this is a downy but if someone tells me he's a hairy, I'll be happy to change the title and tags.
