BPRR SW1500 1514 sits with a few coal cars at the soon to be shut down Homer City Generating Station in Homer City, PA. Currently the largest operating coal-fired power plant in Pennsylvania, it was slated to cease operations by July of this year, and I believe it has.
This photo was shot from a suburban city setting! Its a Median Stack of 58 10 sec Canon 5D Mark II photos, pushed ISO 6400, using a 50mm 1.4 @ f/2 on a clear, freezing night with good seeing (and no moon) for ultimate light sensitivity. Isn't it amazing just how many stars are out there? The center star is the North Star aka Polaris. I originally shot this series as a timelapse for this piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT8AIcpjU58
in this view of the gold and black plume agate, you can see the end from where I took off the polished nub I first uploaded the photograph of on Dec. 22nd. On the damaged, outside edge, I had spotted the faint outline of a plume-like structure, which is why I decided to pick it up and keep it. It certainly was not a very pretty or impressive looking specimen, but I just had a feeling it might be something good.
Test swatch for color stacked Jempool Scarf (Color stacking 101 with slip stitch crochet for class topic: Stitch Games (Wed. July 13, 6-9pm in Charleston SC).
This one is three separate boxes that stack on top of each other to make a trinket box tower of sorts :-) Each box is 85 mm (3.5") diameter by 45 mm (1.8") deep. The top two boxes each have a foot ring that sits inside the previous box preventing them from sliding about. The bottom box has a flat base which is why it appears shorter in the third pic. Overall height when stacked, including the lid is 155 mm (6.1"). The shiny finish is achieved with liquid Kato, a method taught to me by Debbie Crothers.
A stacked cake with 6 cakes, making these cylinders. Fresh flowers on top to match those used at the reception. it looked gorgeous. The side design was copied from the bride's fabric which was corded Chantilly lace. I did brush embroidery first then piped around the outside.

From this impressive snow and ice stack, our friend Rachel has clearly been told not to step more on her left, even if the view on the valley of Chamonix is is completely amazing :-)
At this location, she sees our rope squad (cordée) and we're also on ridge.

Thirteen image focus stack of a juvenile raft spider, Dolomedes fimbriatus, on an ox-eye daisy.
This was shot in natural light on a tripod using a Raynox DCR-250 to get close and Zerene Stacker to combine the exposures.
These berries are about pencil size and are fully encapsulated in ice. This is a six image stack for depth of field.
This idea is not mine, although these stacks are. I got the idea from a site called the Rainbow Elephant. I think it is really fun to do, and easy. I will load up the instructions if anyone asks.
