Sorry for adding so many photos, but I had the most amazing day today. A friend and I went whale watching off the heads of Sydney Harbour. We were supposed to go last week but I got a tummy bug and today it was supposed to be very windy which did make it a bit choppy but not too bad. We saw three pods of whales and a couple of them came quite close to the boat. I was hoping to see them jump out of the water, but I did manage to get a couple of tail slaps.

This was taken back in January - I haven't seen many dragonflies around this Summer.

When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie

That's amore

When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine

That's amore

Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling

And you'll sing "Vita bella"

Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay

Like a gay tarantella

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool

That's amore

When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet

You're in love

When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not

Dreaming signore

Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli

That's amore

I always loved the part about pasta fazool.

in front of my kitchenwindow a new friend say`s to me:

spring is coming !!

look the Hedgehog family in the garden

Sunflowers (aka Balsamroot) in full bloom in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon as storm skies coming rolling through. This is an old image that I must have passed over because it was more time than I wanted to invest for a high ISO multi-shot miss-aligned scene. Newer tools and better skills make for a cleaner image than I would have had many years ago.

As usual in this area the wind comes flying through and the only way to normally slow the flowers down for them to be sharp is faster shutter speed (i.e. higher ISO). Yet who would enjoy this if it was easy all the time, that wouldn't be any fun!

First Bee macro of 2013. It was a beautiful day today. Lots of sunshine and a temperature of 17º C. It is so nice to see all those insects again.

I thought I was just going to be making a video of this pair of Eagles talking to one another... Little did I know!!

I love that they can't make eye contact at the end, just like awkward teenagers! haha!

Here is my lovely Ana for HBW evening! :)

I miss her sooo much ... and yes, she can smile! See! :D

Wish you guys a wonderful bokehlicious evening! :)

Please no large glittery graphics, photos or big group invites in your comments!

After a wet, miserable day yesterday, today is lovely and sunny, so I decided to take the opportunity to go out into my garden and stalk some bees. They are really enjoying all the new blooms on the Camellia bush during the cold Winter days.

Ok - so this wasn't so much wild as 'trying to be in the flower'

Yesterday when I was wandering around my neighbour's garden, I spotted this unusual spider. I took a few photos, but couldn't seem to get it all in focus due to camera shake. I went home to get my monopod, but when I went back the spider was gone and hasn't been back since (maybe eaten by a bird?), so these shots will have to do. The pink and green background is the Azalea bush which was behind the web.

I will be away for a few days - still clearing out Peter's Dad's house (what a job). Will catch up on Wednesday when I get back.

It′s time to dip dive dip

You might break a hip

To the sound that's legit

I′ve come to make a hit

I usually bust scratches with my man, c.l. smooth

But, I decided to get wreck on this groove

As I provide the slide ..........

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire,

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

It is a wet, cold, miserable day in Sydney today so no chance to go out for photos. This is a lovely rose that I found in a neighbour's garden last week.

Spring is here and so are the Bradford Pear Blossoms...taken with my 35mm/f1.8 lens to ensure plenty of bokeh against the perfectly blue sky background. This is one of the greatest times of the year for photography with everything coming back to life after a dormant, dark winter.

Technical Information:

Camera - Nikon D7200 (handheld)

Lens – Nikkor 35mm fixed, f/1.8

ISO – 200

Aperture – f/5

Exposure – 1/640 second

Focal Length – 35mm

The original RAW file was processed with Adobe Camera Raw and final adjustments were made with Photoshop CS6.

Taken in or near the Conservatory Garden in Central Park

It is getting fairly cold here now and most of the insects have gone somewhere warmer. I spotted this lone damselfly hanging onto a twig on a bush in my neighbour's garden. The first photo is SOOC and the other two are lightened slightly in Photoshop. They were taken with my 50D and the Canon 180 mm 3.5 L series macro lens.

Good morning sunshine

a good new WEEK for all my friends !!

we break a little time !

spring and love is In the air

We are going up to Gosford today to take Peter's Dad to the nursing home. We will be staying until Thursday evening so I am adding a photo for tomorrow as well. We probably won't have internet so I will catch you all when I get back.
