It was inspiring to see Lincoln's house in Springfield, Illinois and it is amazing to think that if his "house divided" speech been ignored or rejected (as was likely) he never would have been elected.
Of course if I had been him I would have said "So long, and good riddance to the hillbilly states." And then I would have watched them starve.
The Old State Capitol Building served as the capitol of the State of Illinois from 1839 until 1876. Abraham Lincoln spent a great deal of time here as a lawyer. Today it is a State Historic Site and the interior has been reconstructed to it's 1860 appearance.
Mike & Rosie's has been a favorite for years. Real city-style subs and sides. They've recently built on, and now feature a sports bar as well. The addition is on the right.

On July 15, 2007, a non-edible giant pink doughnut was erected to promote the upcoming movie, The Simpsons Movie. It was subsequently torched and destroyed on September 25, 2009.
