Years ago, I knew a man named Mr. Culp, and he was a Revolutionary War reenactor and history teacher. He informed me that this cemetery is the oldest in Springfield. Sometime, maybe in the 1950's or 60's, they built a medical office building almost surrounding this cemetery. Only in New Jersey. What a great view - look out the window at the gravestones 5 feet away.
The Old State Capitol Building served as the capitol of the State of Illinois from 1839 until 1876. Abraham Lincoln spent a great deal of time here as a lawyer. Today it is a State Historic Site and the interior has been reconstructed to it's 1860 appearance.

Taken at 1am, shoot cut abruply short due to a few dodgy geezers showing up and hassling us.
This was the third location of the evening, and the only one we managed to gain access to. Total 115 miles driving and scouting around!
All good fun though, found ourselves stood on a quarry cliff in the dark, trying to gain access to an abandoned swimming pool, while hiding from a bobby on the beat, then finaly at Springfield brewery being hassled by a few local drunks!

Today was the annual Springfield Christmas Parade. I hadn't been to one since I was a kid, so it was a special treat to see one after all these years. Despite the cold, it was a good time.
www.urbanjacksonville.info/2007/10/17/podcast-episode-13-... In this episode I talk with Phillip Ramsey and Jennifer McCharen about the Springfield community garden. The garden is located on Main Street in the raised lot north of The Pearl.
We talk about how the garden got started, plans for the garden and Jacksonville in general. Eventually Phillip and Jennifer hope to provide space for the community to grow their own food and possibly provide food for their neighbors and the surrounding downtown community.

This picture was taken by the Springfield Preservation Trust back in June 1983. They went through the neighborhood recording structures that were of historical significance. Here is the link which has a lot more info about this house & many others. Just click on the PDF icon once you get there.
Another "just snap" kind of shot. Got out of the car, about to walk into the building..looked up ..saw the moon appeared just between the branches, so I just took the shot.
