Its been converted to flats and apartments for a number of years.
In April 2020 it suffered a really bad fire.

It took three years, but Karen Mathis' predictions for Springfield retail relief have finally arrived in the form of a new Walgreens store at 8th and Davis. Seen here as just an empty lot, the Walgreens will be a welcome addition to the the neighborhood. I could see that placing being mobbed by snack starved Shandsies. What a great place, in walking distance, to get basics.

Rick Springfield is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. He was a member of pop rock group Zoot from 1969 to 1971 and then started his solo career with his début single "Speak to the Sky" reaching the top 10 in Australia. In mid-1972, he relocated to the United States. He had a No. 1 hit with "Jessie's Girl" in 1981 in both Australia and the US. He received the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for "Jessie's Girl". He followed with four more top 10 US hits, "I've Done Everything for You", "Don't Talk to Strangers", "Affair of the Heart" and "Love Somebody". His two US top 10 albums are Working Class Dog (1981) and Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet (1982). As an actor, he portrayed Dr. Noah Drake on the daytime drama General Hospital, from 1981 to 1983 and during 2005 to 2008.

It was extra sweet that the historic victory came against one of the nation's most storied programs, as No. 13 Mater Dei defeated No. 4 DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) 79-71 at Monday's Hoophall Classic...With the eight-point victory, McKnight surpassed Mike Phelps, who compiled a 843-196 record at St. Joseph (Alameda, Calif.) and Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.). As of Monday, McKnight owns an 844-77 coaching mark since the 1982-1983 season..."It feels great," McKnight told ESPNU. "I've been lucky to have a lot of great players and a lot of great coaches. It's (Mater Dei) a great school."..DeMatha Catholic (16-1) had trouble slowing down the perimeter attack of Mater Dei (16-1). When I was in high school in Springfield, Oregon, which was longer ago than I care to think about, cars like this were THE thing for the cool kids... one of which I was not.
One of my friends was a cool kid, though; we took a Medieval England history class together, and he liked to talk about his Plymouth Roadrunner. He also introduced me to some cool science fiction books. I think, in retrospect, that he had a streak of "inner geek" to him, and since none of his "cool friends" were in the Medieval England class, he was free to slum it with a nerdy kid and talk about his secret interests like sci-fi novels and fantasy art.

Springfield is the capital of the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat and largest city of Sangamon County. The city's population was 116,250 at the 2010 U.S. Census, which makes it the state's sixth most-populous city, the second largest outside of the Chicago metropolitan area (after Rockford), and the largest in central Illinois. Present-day Springfield was settled by European Americans in the late 1810s, around the time Illinois became a state. The most famous historic resident was Abraham Lincoln, who lived in Springfield from 1837 until 1861, when he went to the White House as President of the United States. Major tourist attractions include multiple sites connected with Lincoln including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site, and the Lincoln Tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The city lies in a valley and plain near the Sangamon River. Lake Springfield, a large artificial lake owned by the City Water, Light & Power company (CWLP), supplies the city with recreation and drinking water. Weather is fairly typical for middle latitude locations, with four distinct seasons, including, hot summers and cold winters. Spring and summer weather is like that of most midwestern cities; severe thunderstorms may occur. Tornadoes hit the Springfield area in 1957 and 2006.
The city has a mayor–council form of government and governs the Capital Township. The government of the state of Illinois is based in Springfield. State government institutions include the Illinois General Assembly, the Illinois Supreme Court and the Office of the Governor of Illinois. There are three public and three private high schools in Springfield. Public schools in Springfield are operated by District No. 186. Springfield's economy is dominated by government jobs, plus the related lobbyists and firms that deal with the state and county governments and justice system, and health care and medicine.

The concept came to life during an event that started September 2017, to help raise funds to benefit downtown revitalization. It’s a pop up art event in where you can watch artists compete to create a mural in one day and unveil it during a reception party that night. Each year the murals change, making this a great spot to visit and wander through and take pics or the amazing artwork!
