Thank you, my dear friends, for all your comments and faves!

I had a pair of Nuthatches regularly coming to my woodland feeders but the female disappeared a few months ago ,probably predated by the local sparrow hawk.

Its seems that this is the new lady on the block and has now paired up with the male.

I know it’s a very old fashioned flower, but I love lilac. Then again, I am somewhat of an old fashioned person, and certainly an old soul, so perhaps it suits me. I love lilacs for their delicate blooms, sweet scent and of course their delightful shades of purple. They are a true harbinger of spring.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 26th of May is "shades of purple", and I was immediately put in mind of the lovely lilacs I saw in some of the old fashioned cottage gardens that I sometimes see on my walks. Whilst it is autumn where I live now, I just happen to have a photograph of a beautiful lilac bearing several shades of purple in my photo archive, taken on a lovely spring stroll I took in October last year. Captured against a wonderfully clear azure sky, I thought it most suitable. I hope you like my choice for the theme and that it makes you smile!

Syringa is a genus of twelve currently recognized species of flowering woody plants in the olive family or Oleaceae called lilacs. These lilacs are native to woodland and scrub from south eastern Europe to eastern Asia, and widely and commonly cultivated in temperate areas elsewhere.

Cold Spring Creek flows at the base of the majestic Mt Hood in northern Oregon. Following this magical flow upstream leads to Tamanawas Falls and many a fallen rock. I recommend the hike.

We've been told it's going to snow this weekend, but this magnolia tree is getting ready for spring with its fuzzy buds.

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Once upon a time, the pine tree, that spring is already approaching.

The mole croaked grimly: - He will surely come by car.

The hedgehog turned stern: - Rather on a scooter.

The snake hissed: - I don't believe it, he'll come on a bicycle.

The blackbird whistled: - I know something about it, he will come by plane.

- From where again," said the magpie, "I do not take my eyes off her

and last year in May I saw her on the streetcar.

- Not true spring usually arrives by motorcycle!

- And I will prove to you here that it is by car.

- Not true, because in a carriage!

- In a carriage? - What are you saying?

I can briefly declare that he goes by his own boat!

And spring has come on foot.

Already the flowers are enjoying her , already the grasses are growing before her

And they are humming - welcome spring!

There are signs of spring along the famous Apache Trail. This is Canyon Lake in the early morning light. Always a wonder to find water in the Senoran Desert (even if it from a man-made dam).

As always, thanks so much for stopping by.

We made a unplanned stop at Yellowstone on our way home from Washington. There was a quick snowstorm while we were there and it turned into a beautiful winter wonderland. Especially now with the flooding I feel blessed that we stopped. It may be years before we get to go back. This may be my favorite shot of the trip.
