I hope you can forgive me the little play on the title of the 1975 novel. It's meant to be in memory of one of my favourite British authors, Jack Higgins, who died in April this year.
Wilhelm, the male eurasian lynx at Wisentgehege Springe, out on an afternoon stroll through his enclosure.
Seen in the Deister Region close to the city of Springe in Northern Germany. This ice needles are not at a window but growing on the snow outside.
Taking a splash - a bear in the Saupark near Springe enjoys a refreshing morning bath, and I was able to get very close to the "pool".

zwischen Extremen.
Beide Seiten glitschig und verlockend.
Da findest du mich,
immer abseits der Schienen

Ich, der am Bodenrumschwimmer
der tapfere Forscher, dem kein Gipfel zu hoch ist,
angezogen von äußeren Enden,
mit Vollgas in die Überwältigung.
Dabei gibt es so hübsche Abzweigungen entlang des Weges,
in diesem Kontinuum, das für mich ein Trampolin ist.
Ich springe auf und ab
und vor meinen Augen lässt das Leben aufblitzen,
was alles sein könnte...
Ein wunderschöner Herbsttag im Saupark bei Springe - ein wunderbarer Wildpark mit vielen Möglichkeiten für spektakuläre Tieraufnahmen.
Last week I visited the wildlife park and although I missed the "Bird of Prey Show" I lucked out because the keeper talked to someone he know and I got the chance to ask for some portrait pictures.

Nachdem ich hier nun wieder eine ganze Weile abwesend war, möchte ich nun versuchen meine aufgelaufene Bilderflut der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren. :)
Das heutige Bild ist für mich ein ganz besonderes, darum springe ich zurück in den April diesen Jahres.... Während ich mich all die Jahre erfolgreich vor dem Virus abducken konnte, erwischte es mich nun also doch. Ich musste aufgrund dessen dann in Quarantäne und beschloss jeden Tag ein Bild aufzunehmen. Ich wollte mir selbst beweisen, dass man keine schöne Landschaften und/oder Sonnenuntergänge benötigt um etwas tolles auf den Sensor zu bannen. Gesagt! Getan! Ich bin eben ein Macher, Zeit hatte ich schließlich in diesen Tagen genug... :D (kleiner Einspieler an dieser Stelle: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbHGS_bVkXY)
Da ich von dem Ergebnis so fasziniert war (fragt mich lieber nicht wie lange ich bis zur Vollendung benötigt habe ^^) reichte ich es anschließend bei der "NURIA Kunstausstellung" ein. Offenbar war ich mit meiner Faszination nicht alleine und so waren die Formalitäten schnell erledigt. Mein Werk wurde dann vom 10.06.2022 - 12.06.2022 in der Festhalle der Stadt Ilmenau ausgestellt. Ich bin immernoch stolz wie Bolle wenn ich daran zurück denke! :)

After being absent here for quite a while, I would now like to try to present my accumulated flood of pictures to the public. :)
Today's picture is a very special one for me, so I'm jumping back to April this year.... While I was able to successfully duck the virus all these years, it caught me after all. I had to go into quarantine and decided to take a picture every day. I wanted to prove to myself that you don't need beautiful landscapes and/or sunsets to capture something great on the sensor. Said! Done! I am a doer, I had enough time these days... :D
Since I was so fascinated by the result (don't ask me how long it took me to finish it ^^) I submitted it to the "NURIA Art Exhibition" afterwards. Apparently I was not alone with my fascination and so the formalities were quickly completed. My work was then exhibited from 10.06.2022 - 12.06.2022 in the festival hall of the city of Ilmenau. I'm still proud as punch when I think back on it! :)

They let you walk right into the wildcat enclosure and hang out with the cats like you might in your own backyard. The 8-year-old female was a little wary around her dad but didn't seem to mind the human visitors.
A protected species, wild populations of Felis sylvestris are doing fairly well again these days.
I hope it's ok for you if I jump back and forth a little between beautiful Hamburg and the extraordinary beautiful Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Because I still have a few photos here from both places that I would definitely like to show you.
There are few places in Saxon Switzerland that feel as mystical and magical as the view from the dog of hell (and that's certainly not just because of the name).
Even on a normal day, this isolated rock (the namesake of this view), together with the rugged rock faces on both sides of the valley, exudes a special, pristine atmosphere.
However, if you are lucky enough to experience a sunrise like this and you can watch as the fog flows into the valley and obscures all signs of civilization, the atmosphere is hard to describe in words.
Ich hoffe es ist ok für Euch, wenn ich ein wenig zwischen dem schönen Hamburg und dem wunderschönen Elbsandsteingebirge hin und her springe. Denn ich habe von beiden Orten noch einige Fotos hier, die ich Euch unbedingt zeigen möchte.
Es gibt nur wenige Orte im in der Sächsischen Schweiz, die sich so mystisch und magisch anfühlen wie der Ausblick am Höllenhund (und das liegt gewiss nicht nur an dem Namen).
Schon an einem ganz normalen Tag verströmt dieser allein stehenden Felsen (der Namensgeber dieser Ausicht) zusammen mit den schroffen Felswände zu beiden Seiten des Tales ein besondere ursprüngliche Stimmung.
Wenn man dann jedoch noch das Glück hat einen solchen Sonnenaufgang zu erleben und man beobachten kann, wie der Nebel ins Tal hinein strömt und alle Hinweise auf Zivilisation verdeckt, ist die Atmosphäre kaum in Worte zu fassen.

265 010 bespannte am 05.07.2020 den ER 62997 Hannover-Linden - Hameln und fährt zur Zugkreuzung mit der entgegenkommenden Nordwestbahn aus Löhne in den Bahnhof von Voldagsen ein. In gut 20 Minuten wird die Fahrt in Richtung Hameln fortgesetzt werden. Im Vordergrund ist das Streckengleis der ehemaligen Kleinbahn Voldagsen–Duingen–Delligsen (VDD) zu sehen, welches bis 2018 als Anschlussgleis zum Rheinkalkwerk in Salzhemmendorf genutzt wurde.
