I wanted this photo to draw you in with its focus on the texture and light playing across these interesting leaves.
I used a shallow depth of field, which blurs the background, making the central cluster of leaves the undeniable focal point. This selective focus helps to isolate the subject and eliminate distractions, allowing the viewer to really appreciate the details of the leaves themselves.
The lighting is natural and soft, from diffused sunlight. This gentle illumination highlights the intricate veining and the slightly fuzzy texture of the leaf surfaces without creating harsh shadows. Hopefully You can almost feel the velvety quality of the leaves just by looking at the way the light catches their subtle contours.
I am happy with the composition as I think quite effective. The leaves are positioned in a way that leads your eye through the frame, with the central, upright leaves acting as a strong anchor. The slightly darker tones of the leaves contrast nicely with the brighter, out-of-focus background, further emphasizing the subject.
Overall, I’m pleased with this example of close-up photography that successfully captures the beauty and tactile quality of the plant. I have paid attention to light, focus, and composition to create a visually appealing image. I swapped out my lens for my Lensbaby Sol 45 for this shot.

Battus philenor, the pipevine swallowtail or blue swallowtail, is a swallowtail butterfly found in North America and Central America. This butterfly is black with iridescent-blue hindwings. They are found in many different habitats, but are most commonly found in forests.
Found this little Eurasian Tree Sparrow enjoying the fresh spring growth. I love how the vibrant green foliage creates a natural frame, highlighting the intricate patterns of its feathers. There's something so peaceful about watching these small birds go about their day in the thick of the hedgerow.

Beneath the hush of leaves and golden sunlight, spring begins to bloom quietly — tender, gentle, and full of promise. Captured during golden hour, this moment reflects the soft rebirth that nature sings when no one’s watching.
The sun is gently setting, casting a golden-orange glow over the fields and the lush green hillsides around Afidnes. From above, in an aerial shot, the commuter train can be seen having just left the small station behind, heading toward Chalkida.
The tracks trace a silvery line through the spring landscape, while the train cars reflect the sun’s last warm rays. All around, blossoming trees, low vegetation, and scattered houses create a serene picture of the Greek countryside.
The atmosphere combines tranquility and the anticipation of travel—a quintessential moment of spring, as the train begins its journey to northern Euboea, traversing the luminous Greek landscape.
