It's Springtime, and the cactus are starting to bloom. The flower on this one is a bit unusual... and at the same time familiar.

Earlier this year when it was very, very cold we decided it'd be a good idea to go to Phoenix for Spring Break. Spring Break arrived this year with a warm front, nearly 15 degrees above normal for Albuquerque. This also meant 15 degrees above normal for Phoenix ... making for a hot trip but so what - we were ready!
Pink and purple dominate this springtime arrangement that adorns the Circulation Desk at the Salem (MA) Public Library provided by the Salem Garden Club.
A storm blew through leaving a trail of devastation across the state of Iowa. We were fortunate with only rain and high winds. My Irises took a beating, lost some, trampled down a few that I cut and brought inside, closed up a few but opened a few more! I find beauty in all the stages that a flower takes from bud, to flower, back to bud, to dying. Behold life and death in a cycle thru Mother Nature. Our first post-lockdown excursion, and our first restaurant meal since 31 October 2020. We lunched by the sea, at Markopoulos, near Oropos, about an hour away from our home in Athens.

A dreamy morning filled with fresh cherry blossoms.
__
This was taken at the University of Washington campus. Every year, the cherry blossoms bloom beautifully for about a month.
It's funny because the last few years, I've been "too busy" to go outside and take photos at my own school! Sad excuses. I finally had time this year, so I went during spring break. I actually went back several times, trying to scout out the best locations. I woke up around 5:30AM for this shot, hoping to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, it was dreary and rainy when I got to the campus. No sunrise for me ... Luckily, the sun decided to peek out for a few minutes later that morning, adding a momentary warmth and softness to the otherwise lackluster morning. I managed to squeeze in some shots before the sun left for good. The cherry blossoms fitted in perfectly with the temporary tranquility that came with the sun.
