Spring should be a time of renewal, not a time of destruction.
This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C with a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1:4 f=150mm lens and Kowa L39•3C(UV) ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized with Photoshop.

It's been a hard winter for the squirrels, as well as for many of us. But today the sun is shining, the snow is melting, and it actually feels like spring outside. We have five squirrels that make their home here in our yard.

A storm blew through leaving a trail of devastation across the state of Iowa. We were fortunate with only rain and high winds. My Irises took a beating, lost some, trampled down a few that I cut and brought inside, closed up a few but opened a few more! I find beauty in all the stages that a flower takes from bud, to flower, back to bud, to dying. Behold life and death in a cycle thru Mother Nature. First boat to be launched at Montrose Harbor on the North Side of Chicago. That is great of course but, I'm not so sure me and the crew are ready for that first shake out sail... Least, not till the snow melts.
Our season is short enough without this kind of silliness.
I was fortunate to have an offer to join a friend on Havergate Island for a day over Easter, and we spent several hours in the company of this hare. Unfortunately, it spent most of them asleep, and we only really got much activity to photograph in the last few minutes. Still, this is a nice one. Wish it was looking at me just a little more, but the colours are complementary, and it's a closer view of a hare than one tends to see. I'll hopefully have some more close-ups coming out soon.
