Typical April evening with changeable weather conditions and lovely Spring light.

Spring sunshine

Walking in local woods and came across this new growth glowing in a little patch of Spring sunshine. It was lit up like a little torch.

LARGE is best!

Endcliffe Park 070323 - we wook up to a clear blue sky this morning and not the forecast snow - it's been some time since we had such a bright day - I saw this woodpigeon in the shade of the blossom and thought it made a lovely image

Visiting locos from north of the border accelerate their train away from Groombridge; the appropriate cold northerly wind blowing the steam across the train.. but still looking stunning in the sussex spring sunshine

Resident "one off rebuild" Austerity loco 2890 with the queen mary brake accelerates its train away from Groombridge, passing the admiring gallery of photographers in the adjacent field that captured this early departure - the gala's first train to Turnbridge Wells West in the glorious early morning spring light.

It was a beautiful Autumn day when I captured this image with the sunshine gleaming through a Maple tree. I photographed into direct sunlight which partially silhouetted the leaves, then I made some digital transformations in Photoshop, (together with a touch of Fractal art), to show some of the pretty colors I really saw through my lens. It was as if I was seeing Spring in Autumn or Fall.

Resident, but with an imminently expiring boiler certificate (this month), Sir Keith Park with suitable blue adornments (for the Scottish gala) and bulled-up "end of steam" appearance, devoid of nameplates, accelerates its train away from Groombridge, passing the admiring gallery of photographers in the adjacent field. The appropriate cold northerly wind blowing the steam across the train.. but still looking magnificently stunning in the Sussex spring sunshine

As many times as I've walked through this park/square, I've never seen it so empty. The park btw is Washington Square in Center City Philadelphia. It's loaded with benches like these and usually almost every bench has a person sitting on one of them. It thought it was particular odd today that nobody was around.

Roadside Daffodils at Colan Church.

I usually hit the clarity slider hard in RAW processing - it hides all manner of ills and ineptitude.

But this time, I stood well back in case things got really messy, and moved the slider in a negative direction for a (slightly) softer look.

Spring is on fast forward this year, everything is blooming at once.

078 passes the 11 3/4 milepost while approaching Beauparc with the 09:20 Tara Mines-North Wall laden Zinc Ore train. Beauparc, located on the Drogheda-Navan Branch was opened on the 1st of September 1850 by the Dublin and Drogheda Junction Railway. It lost its passenger service in 1958 but Gypsum trains from Kingscourt kept the line opened. Zinc Ore trains started to operate in 1977 from Tara Mines in Navan to Dublin Port. There are 3 Laden trains per day scheduled Monday to Friday, but usually only one Laden train runs on fridays. The Tara Mines are the heaviest trains to operate in Ireland ,each wagon when Laden weighs about 75 tonnes which can make a full Laden train over 900 tonnes. Today these trains are the only reason the line has remained opened.
