... It’s spring fever… That is what the name of it is… And when you’ve got it… you want… ohhhhhh… you don’t quite know what it is you do want… but it just fairly makes your heart ache… you want it so…. ~ Mark Twain ~ .... (Try this one enlarged...)
Woke up to about 5 centimeters (two inches) of snow, argh! Our poor flowers are so confused, they don't know what to do. I feel sorry for the rufous hummingbirds that have migrated from Mexico and started arriving this past week. I'm pretty sure a snowfall in April is a record for us here on the west coast of British Columbia. I guess this is Mother Nature's April Fool's joke...not funny!
I think these are plum tree blossoms...does anybody know?

Week 10 of 52 weeks for dogs This photo is the first of my 'four seasons' shots, (an idea inspired by sarah... with Gyp last year) hopefully to be followed during the year by summer, autumn & winter - all at the same spot in the forest. This is one of our favourite places but as during wet weather it quickly floods and becomes impassable, we don't walk there as often as we'd like to. The walk we do is just over two miles and you can see the path we have come up in the distance behind Taivas' right ear! We are now at the highest point and about half way.
Originally I had planned that this week's photo would be of Taivas at Crufts, but as she chose the most inconvenient time to have her season and is wanting a fella she will be staying at home - I think she would drive the male lapphunds to distraction if I took her, poor boys! For that very reason this had to be a quick photo session..........she was looking here there and everywhere and I didn't want her disappearing! She was back on her flexi lead asap.

I did a tiny bit of cloning to remove my shadow at the bottom left, otherwise it's sooc.
16:52 - Signs of Spring: We've finally seen decent weather and broken the cycle of being below freezing at night. That of course has led to an explosion of color as the tulips bloom.

A friend from the Hocking Hills was kind enough to e-mail me Saturday that the redbud trees were blooming at their peak this weekend. So I got up at 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, hopped in the car, and made a special trip for this once-a-year sight.
This is the photo version I've come up with. I also have a more painterly version at the link below:

White blossoms on a wild pear tree in the woods of Breckinridge Park.
Thank you for your views, faves and comments!
Wow, the weather in the past 24 hours has run the gamut. Lovely fog. Gorgeous blue skies with wonderful clouds. High temps. And a magnificent thunderstorm to cap it all off. I love Spring!
As the sun was going down I noticed how the blooms on the top of this tree were catching the sun over the house, I thought it would make a nice picture to contrast the bark and lines of the tree with the color of glow at the top.
I did this in a subtle HDR so that the contrast of the tree and blooms would show in full strength, standard +2, 0 -2 and applied slight light curve to the result to darken the trunk to give a greater contrast between the trunk and the top.
Another favorite from 2005. Unfortunately I found only the jpeg format--amizingly I can now see that the EXIF is still attached. In any case, cute ladybug on a poppy whose shape initiates some daydreaming...
