Spring is making its way into Lapland slowly but surely. Weather is getting warmer day by day and long gone are the days with only few hours of daylight. Unfortunately, also trees have lost their beautiful snow-cover.
My two personal favorite times of the year in Lapland are fall colors and mid-winter. Still, there is something magical about the spring.

Another shot from my trip to Hyde Hall Gardens on Tuesday morning. The weather has been beautiful this week :)
I read somewhere that on CET, Spring officially starts at 17:15, so at this moment I want to post a flower to mark this welcome event. The flower is a lotus flower or lily that I photographed in Singapore near the Marina Bay Sands. I really like the way the raindrops lie on the petals.

It's been a strange winter here- it did get a little cold for a few weeks, but has been much warmer than usual for the last 6 weeks or so. This appears to have convinced our flowers that it is Spring, since we have bulbs coming up all over that normally are not blooming by this time. So, the only reasonable response I can think of is to make a few portraits. This closeup is close to true macro, an image created from 10 images, which were combined in Helicon Focus in a process called depth of field stacking to create adequate depth of field at this level of magnification.
Spring is comong slowly. Some time i's so slow your not sure it's actually getting any closer.

Happy Weekend!
This is Spring street in downtown Chambersburg. This was an experiment using the panorama app Photosynth on my iPhone. I walked sideways along the sidewalk instead of just standing and scanning from the normal fixed position. Oh yeah, there are some crazy lines, but it was fun and just the beginning.

Fresh new leaves give credence to the miracle of Spring. Newborn growth sprouts at the tips of this Texas Cedar Elm near Austin. New beauty, new aromas and new hope for life.
Happy meteorological spring! I'm sick of winter so I dug up these lovelies for your and my enjoyment this first day of spring!
The Dunedin Botanic Garden is New Zealand's first botanic garden and holds the status of six star Garden of International Significance. ArbNet, the global network for tree-focussed professionals, has accredited the Botanic Garden as level III. The Gardens had its 150th anniversary in 2013. It occupies 30.4 hectares in North Dunedin at an altitude of 25 – 85 metres above sea level. There are more than 6,800 plant species and the song of wild native bellbirds, wood pigeons and tui. And in Spring there are daffodils.
Today a survey came out claiming Dunedin is top city to live in NZ in terms of safety, traffic problems, house prices etc. But no one else in NZ believes it :)
You know it's spring when offspring from different species make their emergence, particularly the famous Canadian "baby geese" or goslings
A longer walk into the countryside. A new born lamb. Nesting birds. New shoots. Bluebells. Spring. Sunshine. Warmth. And a happy smile. Life will go on. We'll have good times again.
On a spring day, from a distant sky, the rain whispers stories in my ear, stories of fancy drops on faces.

Seems like spring goes by so fast it's just a blur sometimes. I don't often do these abstract type images for reasons that should be obvious!
So many migrating songbirds such as this white-crowned sparrow have been caught in another spring snowstorm, which has covered their natural ground seed foraging. They are flocking to the seed feeders in droves.
It is interesting to watch the hierarchy on display among species, as well as dominance among birds-of-a-feather.
This sparrow is waiting atop the feeder for his opportunity.
It was lovely to see loads of daffodils during my walk this morning ... spring time has arrived!

Happy Fence Friday! Spring Rhodies provide the background for this shot from our rear patio. I hope all are well on this Mother's Day Friday!
There is a river of spring runoff beside the portage trail from Killarney Lake to Freedom Lake. There are several cascades and the water is very fast and fierce.
This is the last of the cascades just before it flows into Freedom Lake.
Thank you for all of your kind comments, visits, faves and invites. I do appreciate you taking the time to stop by for a wee visit. ♥ =^D
