i was visiting my parents on easter and the lake was flooding pretty badly. i needed a pair of rubber boots to get to the dock and parts of it floated on water and sunk when i walked on them..
Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park. Be sure to look for the tiny people on the boardwalk; it will give you a sense of scale.

I love seeing these little guys swooping over the spring fields. Unfortunately I'm not quick enough to get any decent in flight images.
Helianthus is a genus of plants comprising about 70 species. Except for three species in South America, all Helianthus species are native to North America and Central America. The species H. annuus typically grows during the summer and into early fall, with the peak growth season being mid-summer. Perennial sunflower species are not as common in garden use due to their tendency to spread rapidly and become invasive. Sunflowers are usually tall annual or perennial plants that in some species can grow to a height of 300 cm or more. They bear one or more wide, terminal capitula (flower heads), with bright yellow ray florets at the outside and yellow or maroon (also known as a brown/red) disc florets inside. 12165
My favorite falls in Hocking Hills raging after the snow melt and heavy rain. Glad to see the water breaking free again just in time for March and the Spring to come.

One of the first flowers in the garden this year. I tried to shoot macro...I think the picture should be sharper, but I'm learning. Any suggestions on making this a better shot would be appreciated.

A westbound Burlington Northern coal empty snakes through the Badlands past milepost 143 just west of Sully Springs, North Dakota, on a beautiful early summer day in 1994. EMD SD40-2 No. 7855 leads a pair of GE C30-7s as power.
