Wes Skiles Peacock Spring State Park, southwest of Live Oak, FL, is most widely known for its vast collection of interconnected underwater caves which attract cave divers worldwide to this obscure Florida gem. Apart from being an underwater destination, its a location of supreme and tranquil beauty that maintains an almost prehistoric character in the colder months. While swimming is allowed, there are springs (nearby too) which provide a better swimming experience. This spring is all about stepping back in time and seeing something truly wild.

Bee in Heather - spring is finally here!

There's a row of rose bushes growing along the fence near our dog run. Most of the year they look pretty ragged. Several times a year Marg and I debate pulling them out and getting rid of them. Then along comes spring, and for six weeks or so, they produce the most beautiful roses. Marg uses them for cut-flower arrangements, the bees go wild over them, and I snap pictures. I suspect they're not going anywhere, although I'm sure by late summer we'll once again be debating the issue.

I went to the river side along with my book and camera. It was fun weekend : )

I was happily excited as Spring has come to our country.

Quite a few of you know that I play the piano. I don't think I'm particularly great at it--I probably do better at photography most times--but nothing I've done with a camera has ever brought me as much enjoyment as playing the piano has. I've recently put a couple of recordings online. Maybe one of them will resonate with you? That would be cool...

Fern growth in the spring begins with the uncurling of fiddleheads and the emergence of little ladders of fronds along the blades.

Mailed from Huntington, Indiana to Mrs. Roy Eisenhower of Syracuse, Indiana on March 22, 1958:

Dear Cousin, I forgot to tell you what a nice dinner you served us & thank you for it. I hope you & Roy can come down & bring the Folks before long. Just let us know so we will be here. It's cloudy this morning & looks like it might snow. At least it's chilly. Best of wishes to all. Della & Ira Weaver
