Day# 207 of 2011 starts with a splash & a swirl

We took the kids to the splash pad here on post today. They had a blast. I am posting many shots from today. Some I think are print worthy for our album, others are just of the kids having a good time. Hope everyone enjoys!

Who is this for?

This hack was installed to honor Officer Sean Collier, who lost his life protecting our campus on April 18, 2013 at the hands of the alleged Boston Marathon bombers. Officer Collier was a man who went above and beyond the requirements of the police force, taking the time not only to protect our community but to immerse himself in it as well. He joined MITOC, MIT's Outing Club, and went on many hikes with them; he took the time to meet everyone he could, and became a friend to many students and faculty alike. We have no way to ever fully thank him for his sacrifice, so this hack is our tribute.

About

This hack was installed on April 18, 2014 to honor Officer Sean Collier, who lost his life protecting our campus. On the anniversary of his sacrifice, thousands of white paper cranes were suspended beneath the skylight in the Gates Atrium of the Stata Center, forming an unbroken column.

Crane contributions came from MIT students, faculty, alumni, and friends from throughout the greater Boston area, then strung and arranged to form this tribute to Officer Collier, who lost his life protecting our campus in April 2013.

Splash! Taken at La Jolla Cove

A blow hole on the rocks provided the effect of a huge splash

I focused more on where the splash would be so I could capture the forming droplets of water.

I wanted to get a shot of a whirl pool but the sink was not co-operating so I went for a splash shot instead. I must say I am very happy with the results.

The kids had a blast during this Storytime at Friendswood's Splash Pad!

The idea came from the may edition of "Digital Photo".

We set it up outside and had great fun doing it.

Splashing in the driveway

Taking a splash on Splash Mountain. I had some followers comment about my Tomorrowland shot not having any people in it and asking how I got that park that empty. How about this for size then. In this case, there was something up with the ride so they were sending empty logs down. Don’t see this view very often.
