finally got around to getting my first holga roll to rob for scanning.
this is the scanned version of this previously posted pic.
Triple exposure of dappled light falling onto a kid's splashing pool.
The film was also advanced a few clicks for the third exposure which explains the non square format, this was the last shot in the roll so the right edge has been cut off.
Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is in Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin (northwestern Wyoming, USA).
Big Anemone Geyser is a frequently erupting small geyser in the southern Geyser Hill Group. It is immediately adjacent to Little Anemone Geyser - together they make up “Anemone Geyser”. Big Anemone has a nearly circular basin with a central vent and lacks a well-defined border. Encircling the cream-colored to grayish, smooth geyserite-floored vent area is abundant, well-formed, closely spaced nodules of grayish geyserite (columnar geyserite & pseudocolumnar geyserite), similar in appearance to cave popcorn (coralloids). Some small biscuit-like masses of grayish geyserite are present on the northern side of the geyser, often with apical puckered structures. The geyserite biscuits are in and along a small, irregularly-shaped, eruption splash pool. The diameter of Big Anemone Geyser, as measured across its nodulose geyserite area, is about 2.5 meters. The diameter of the feature, as measured from the outer edge of its colorful, encircling microbial mats, is about 4.5 to 5 meters.
Big Anemone’s geyserite is especially well-formed and attractive. Geyserite is a friable to solid chemical sedimentary rock composed of opal (hydrous silica, a.k.a. opaline silica: SiO2•nH2O), It forms by precipitation of hydrous silica from hot spring water. Geyserite is the dominant material at & around Yellowstone hot springs and geysers (the Mammoth Hot Springs area is a major exception to this). The silica in the geyserite is ultimately derived from leaching of subsurface, late Cenozoic-aged rhyolitic rocks by superheated groundwater. Rhyolite is an abundant rock at Yellowstone.
Big Anemone Geyser has frequent, moderately low to medium-sized, splashing eruptions. Eruption durations are about half a minute long. Intervals between eruptions starts range from about 7 minutes to almost half-an-hour. Eruption activity at adjacent Little Anemone Geyser has a delaying affect on Big Anemone’s eruption frequency. Eruption cessations at Big Anemone Geyser are impressive, rapid pool drains. Most of the erupted water ends up back in its own vent. Some eruption splash water enters Little Anemone’s basin or its runoff channel.

Sunday. I'm beginning to hate Sundays. Generally we don't have much organised so I end up compiling a list of things to do around the house and the list grows so big that I know I'm never going to shift it all or even make a significant dent and then, instead of just setting aside an hour or two for selected jobs and leaving the rest for another time I get all stressed and worked up and do little bits of everything and end up feeling like I wasted the day.
And breathe....
One of the things I do want to make time for, however, is spending time with the family and especially our youngest, who has a tendency to sit in front of a screen of some sort for most of the day unless dragged away. I decided I'd leave the pile of paperwork that never gets done and the planned picture hanging and take him swimming over at Basingstoke, where the Aquadrome has a nice selection of water flumes.
Being tied up all morning with my never-ending list of jobs I hadn't been out with the camera but had the idea of photographing the flumes from the outside, which is just about the only chance I had to take a photo today and which you see here.
We tried the green slide today; it was closed last time we were here. This one goes really fast then empties out into a great big bowl, which you zip round a couple of times before sliding down through a hole into a splash pool below. I cut my shin and knocked my head quite hard on the wall but it was great fun.
The river Hepste falls as Scwd yr Eira at the confluence of three counties: Rhondda Cynon Taff, West Glamorgan and Powys.
The falls are at their most spectacular after a period of heavy rain. The drawback is a descent and ascent down steep slopes and steps of thick mud! Most people feel that the experience is worth the effort, however, when they stand behind the waterfall and feel its primal force as it plunges into the boiling cauldron of the splash pool less than an arm's length in front of their faces. From the Cynon Valley, Scwd yr Eira is accessible from the rear of the Lamb Inn in Penderyn. Waymarking signs indicate the route out over the moorland where bog cotton grows like fleece upon the rushy ground and the buzzards circle overhead.
The land around Scwd yr Eira is limestone and water has eroded it over the millennia to create potholes, swallowholes, underground rivers and waterfalls
Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano in northwestern Wyoming, USA.
Tardy Geyser is a frequently-erupting member of the Sawmill Group in Yellowstone’s Upper Geyers Basin. It is located 19 meters southeast of Sawmill Geyser. They geyser has a subcircular basin with a centrally-located, funnel-like vent surrounded by a nicely pustulose geyserite platform. Ringing the platform is a splash pool that contains discoidal geyser beads, many of which have become cemented together. Tardy Geyser has two runoff channels. The more frequently used channel runs roughly southwest toward the Firehole River. The other channel extends northeast from Tardy’s basin, then heads east, then heads roughly south toward the Firehole River. This geyser usually has short-duration eruptions that last a few seconds to several minutes - this happens when nearby Sawmill Geyser is active. During a “Tardy Cycle”, the geyser will erupt continuously for 1 to 3 hours with no Sawmill activity. At such times, Tardy Geyser is the dominant member of the Sawmill Group. The northeast-to-east-to-south runoff channel is used during Tardy Cycle activity.
This small waterfall (4ft or so) kept me entertained for at least 45min, as I tried out different compositions!

I spent the last few days in the Mt. Hood area taking advantage of the different locations to take pictures.
I shot more in the afternoon than I usually do and even put the "kit lense" to work a few times.
The weather was warmer than usual and the skies were primarily clear except for a couple moments.
Overall >> the trip was a sucess and I came back with some material to work with.
The biggest downer of the trip was being stung six times (at once) by some very aggressive Hornets.
I seriously can't remember the last time I was stung by a bee. This stinging event is something I won't forget...it hurt like hell when it happened and pretty much the rest of the night.
I lost my cable release while running my ass a quarter mile back to the car.
I went back this morning to try and find it but was unsuccessful. And get this I was chased back to my car by the same bees. They circled my car and would fly and hit the car windows.
As I drove away....they followed me for as long as they could. I've never seen anything like this. I'm arming myself next time against these pain in the ass (literally speaking) pests.
IN THIS SHOT >>>> For sometime I'd been thinking about getting a shot somewhere near the base of the falls. So I decided to work my way down towards the water and then manuever myself upriver.
It was a little sketchy in spots where I had to climb on the steep bank or carefully through the water. So I made it there in one piece and took the shot. Not an eye popping piece of work but all the hard work getting to this location makes this picture for me much better than how it looks.
Oh yeah....I found a trail on the opposite side of the splash pool near this pov and I climbed / walked out in about 3-4 minutes. Sometimes you have to laugh at yourself. LOL

This is one of my favorite stops along the Santiam Pass in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. This beautiful creek leads to a ribbon-shaped waterfall that drops 150-feet before the creek continues its journey toward the South Santiam River. To reach it, you get to hike along a beautiful trail that hugs picturesque Soda Creek, whose banks are crusted with brambles and ferns for the entire length. When you get to the end of the 3/4-mile trail, you're treated to the view of the waterfall. Although the official trail ends here, you can scramble down a steep embankment (a rope tied to a tree helps here) and view the falls from the splash pool below the falls. This is the lowest ancient forest grove left in the South Santiam River drainage.

I always make a point of grabbing a few frame of this waterfall when im passing. Its gone from being surronded by a dense pine forrest to this current state, so its for ever changing. Last night whilst I was taking this I was entertained by small fish leaping in the splash pool
