This partially salt-filled depression in developed on a near-earliest Holocene, ~9200 year-old calcrete (a.k.a. terra rosa paleosol). Calcretes are modern or ancient calcium-carbonate rich soil horizons that are rock hard. The term "terra rosa" refers to the rusty reddish coloration of iron oxides (hematite & limonite), which is typical of fossil soil horizons in the Bahamas rock record.
Near-shore depressions such as this occasionally receive and accumulate ocean water from sea spray and crashing waves, especially during storms. Post-storm evaporation results in the water becoming a brine (= very high salinity water), followed by the precipitation of halite crystals (NaCl - sodium chloride) to form a slush (crystals + briny water). Further evaporation results in the formation of a halite crust or halite fill (no water left).

We had the opportunity to stop by and visit some friends I haven’t seen in a few years. They have become sort of an extension of my own family. These were two neighborhood girls that came over to cool off during the record breaking heat wave the east coast had during the holiday week.
Had such a fun day yesterday! We took a trip over to an area of the city we usually don't visit, and decided to stop by a splash park and let my sister have some fun.
Both of us have been sad about leaving each other, and it was perfect to just play around and not think about moving in a few days!

The river Hepste falls as Scwd yr Eira at the confluence of three counties: Rhondda Cynon Taff, West Glamorgan and Powys.
The falls are at their most spectacular after a period of heavy rain. The drawback is a descent and ascent down steep slopes and steps of thick mud! Most people feel that the experience is worth the effort, however, when they stand behind the waterfall and feel its primal force as it plunges into the boiling cauldron of the splash pool less than an arm's length in front of their faces. From the Cynon Valley, Scwd yr Eira is accessible from the rear of the Lamb Inn in Penderyn. Waymarking signs indicate the route out over the moorland where bog cotton grows like fleece upon the rushy ground and the buzzards circle overhead.
The land around Scwd yr Eira is limestone and water has eroded it over the millennia to create potholes, swallowholes, underground rivers and waterfalls

She is equipped with a full gymnasium, a beauty spa, a splash pool, a 12-seat private theater, an 80-seat conference room and spacious public areas.

This Ocean blue inflatable water slide is made by ocean blue color,even if we haven't add any print on the water slide,it is still very attractive.Besides,when we designed this inflatable slide,we fully took the safety into consideration.We not only double stitch in sewing and reinforced at the seam part,but also offer safe net at the top of the inflatable slide.In this way kids can carefree to slide down to the splash pool.

After the 30 degree weather the past few weeks, today felt quite chilly when I headed out the door during lunch. Likely I have said this before but, one of the upsides to this project is that it gets me outside and I look forward to getting out of the office to clear my head. I walked slowly down the pedestrian mall observing the goings on, mostly people rushing to their lunch appointments a few tourists but because the weather was not great the street was noticeably less busy. Today I made it all the way into the plaza at the end of the street and meandered through watching workers clean the splash pool. At the edge of a seating area I noticed a streak of red hair on a women sitting by herself. I wanted to approach but something held me back so I paused then passed by, circled around and came back to my previous spot and continued watching the workers power-wash the pool. Out of the corner of my eye I could still see the woman sitting there alone, she looked peaceful, obviously enjoying the respite from her labours. Eventually I told myself to go talk to her and moved in her direction.
Meet Justine.
When I introduced myself to Justine and explained what I was up to she quickly gave me a warm welcoming smile and invited me to sit with her. Part of what caught my eye with Justine were her clothes, she was wearing Carhartt pants and work boots. So when I asked her about them she said that she is an apprentice electrician, awesome another woman in the trades. We talked about that and why she chose this path and I mentioned that I too had been an electrical apprentice in another life, giving us something in common. As we talked further I discovered Justine is also an artist and she likes to paint. She pulled out her phone and showed me a picture of her beautiful painting. As she recently moved to Calgary she had decided to paint a picture of the seasons as a way to adjust to being here on her own, a worthy endeavor. We had a great conversation and in fact at some point while we were talking she paused and says to me “I am so glad that you stopped and talked”.
I have said this before but, those are the things that make this project so rewarding, you just never know what will happen.
Recognizing that time was slipping away I suggested that we do the photo, as I do not want to make her late returning to work. The light was challenging as clouds were fairly quickly passing in front of the sun causing varying degrees of shade to full sun.

This partially salt-filled depression in developed on a near-earliest Holocene, ~9200 year-old calcrete (a.k.a. terra rosa paleosol). Calcretes are modern or ancient calcium-carbonate rich soil horizons that are rock hard. The term "terra rosa" refers to the rusty reddish coloration of iron oxides (hematite & limonite), which is typical of fossil soil horizons in the Bahamas rock record.
Near-shore depressions such as this occasionally receive and accumulate ocean water from sea spray and crashing waves, especially during storms. Post-storm evaporation results in the water becoming a brine (= very high salinity water), followed by the precipitation of halite crystals (NaCl - sodium chloride) to form a slush (crystals + briny water). Further evaporation results in the formation of a halite crust or halite fill (no water left).

I thought if we stood next to the top Hot Tub we could get a pretty good view. We can even see the lake! Bear Lake has 14 miles of wooded shoreline. There is a sand beach at our shoreline. I haven't tested the water, but I'll bet it is still pretty cool. Mountain streams and rivers that feel the lakes are cold all year.
Oh my, who left that pool skimmer out at the Splash Pool? First the two chairs out of place at the main pool, now this.....
Well, we will walk down to the splash pool and put that skimmer away, as soon as we can get Suzie out of the top hot tub.
