Cat Pose — Marjariasana (Mar-jar-YA-SUN-aa) — is a gentle backbend that loosens up the spine, stretches the back of the torso, and releases tension in the neck. The posture gets its name from the Sanskrit words marjari, meaning cat, and asana, meaning pose.
It looks a bit illegal, but really, I swear it's bamboo. I understand why the bamboo has been painted for so many lifetimes and in so many spiritual practices. It is graceful in the wind. The way we all need to be in life.
My book came out in 2008. In the introduction I wrote, "It is an invitation to walk through life with a liberating posture of receptivity, reverence, and generosity."

The Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine lies a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean, on Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades, California. It was founded and dedicated by Paramahansa Yogananda, on August 20, 1950.
I'm not a real religious person, but I do pray.(Maybe I am??) A couple weeks ago, I was going through a tough time and really started focusing on the important things. I was a little surprised when I didn't have anything in the house with the praying hands on it.( I was actually looking, because I wanted to use it for my project 365 photo)
Well,on Easter, while visiting my family at my Grandma's, we were going through some of my Great, Great Aunt's things, who had passed away here recently. We opened her purse and here was this little coin with the praying hands. Of course I wanted it. I think I was meant to have it:) She must have carried it with her all the time, and now so do I. She was a great lady who did many things in her long life. She was a minister for 27 years and she was very proud of that. She was also very instrumental in the building of one of the churches here in town.(Actually building..she was also a contractor. In the early forties, she was proud to say she was the only lady contractor in this area..lol
So, anyway, sorry if I bored you with my "book" here. I just wanted to share:-)
