ollow the sequence: Stand straight with one feet distance apart and arms alongside the body. Breathe in and raise the left arm so that the fingers point towards the sky. Breathe out and bend to the right, first from the spine, and then move your pelvis to the left. Bend a little more. Keep your left arm pointing up. Turn your head to look up at the left palm. Straighten the elbows. Breathing in, straighten your body back up. Breathing out, bring the left arm down. Repeat with the right arm."

A giant prayer flag stand that welcomes visitors at The Lama Foundation - Northern New Mexico - at 8,600 feet . . . a place that feels to me like the 'top of the world'. Reminiscent of Flag Mountain, the 12,000 foot peak that towers just to the north behind Lama Foundation, these hand-made flags in the Tibetan tradition, let the wind carry prayers of peace and happiness across the land to each person of the world.

I really enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature. The colourful leaves this time of year are a special joy to watch and capture in camera.
I love the new outlook on the world that photography has given me. An example of this is the great photo opportunities I see every day just driving to and from work, that helps me to enjoy the trip. Sometimes I just have to stop but other times I just smile as I drive on by.
Taken for the the HooHaa52 group as an example of spiritual practice. I couldn't think of another way to show this than by using cameras. But hope it is more interesting than just a photo of a camera.
This was taken with the Olympus. I tried it the other way round, but the screen on the back of the Sony photographed better. Maybe I should have changed the display settings to remove some of the data. The next photo in my stream is the photo showing here.

Subject: Hands
Mudras are a silent language of self-expression. Mudra hand gestures or poses are often used in yoga practice, meditation, and for healing purposes. It is believed that mudras can awaken energy centers within the body.
Mudras have been in use in the East for thousands of years, particularly in Buddhism. Buddha statues often have the hands in certain positions. They have been used as a spiritual practice (and still are), on the path to enlightenment.

This photograph, a piece of the 'Momentum' series, portrays the serene dedication within a temple in stark monochrome. It captures the quietude of a monk in prayer, surrounded by a cascade of prayer tags, which creates a compelling contrast to the bustling life outside the temple walls. The image conveys a moment of spiritual pause, reflecting the momentum of inner peace amidst the world's constant motion
Practicing yoga for inner peace
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the constant noise and distractions around us. We're bombarded with information, notifications, and responsibilities, and it can be difficult to find a moment of calm and clarity amidst the chaos.
That's where meditation comes in. Meditation is a practice that has been used for centuries to quiet the mind, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. But what exactly is meditation, and how can you get started with this powerful practice?
At its core, meditation involves training your mind to focus on a specific object, thought, or activity, with the goal of achieving a state of mental clarity and inner peace. This can be accomplished through a variety of techniques, including deep breathing, visualization, and mindfulness.
Benefits of meditation
The benefits of meditation are numerous and well-documented. Research has shown that regular meditation practice can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, lower blood pressure, and even boost the immune system.
Some tips to get you started include finding a quiet, comfortable space to meditate, setting a regular meditation schedule, and starting with just a few minutes of meditation per day, gradually increasing the length of your sessions over time.
So, how can you get started with meditation? Our Beginner's Guide to Meditation is the perfect place to start.

#Asana #Yoga_Sutras #Yoga_Poses
Asana means a state of being in which one can remain physically and mentally steady, calm, quiet and comfortable. In the #Patanjali_Yoga_Sutras there is a concise definition of #yogasanas,
Shlok: "Sthiram sukham aasnam".
Meaning: That position which is comfortable and steady.
Does anyone know what they call this stunningly beautiful flower in the outside world? We found it growing wild and have planted a solitary bulb in our nurseries...local name not known to locals...
Looks nice in large size too..
It is heartening to know soil at villages around Dunagiri has never been contaminated with pesticides, inorganic fertilisers and other chemical additives. Medicinal plants grown here have heightened potency, spices are much more fragrant, vegetables have a certain freshness and vibrancy about them that has to be seen to be believed. Here you can see our small experimental fields for vegetables and cereals such as potato, radish, garlic, coriander, corn, kidney beans and some local, heritage grains and pulses.
I started swimming 2 to 3 times a week about 5 years ago. I swear it saved my life. Back then my life felt out of control. Swimming gave me control. I started off swimming one lap at a time, resting between each lap. Eventually I worked my way up to swimming 10 laps, then 20, then a full mile each time. I was accomplishing the goals I had set in the pool. It felt phenomenal. Suddenly everything didn't seem so overwhelming.
The pool became my sanctuary. While I may have been surrounded with chaos, the rush of the water in my ears blocked it out. When I'm underwater, I feel like I'm in an entirely different world. Sounds are muffled and vision is distorted. I've had many people tell me that lap swimming is boring. I love the monotony of it. It is the only time of my day when my thoughts flow freely. It's meditative. My mind clears and all of a sudden 30 minutes will have slipped away and I won't be conscious of having actively thought about anything. Other times, the chipped and faded lane lines become like Rorschach art, sometimes I'll see a gent in a top hat or bunny hoping along the lane line. There are also times I'll work on resolving some type of issue that I'm having, whether it is a problem with work or an issue I'm having in a relationship.
I've often joked with people when they ask me if I go to church I tell them "yes, all the time . . . the pool is my church". But it's no joke. I worship the water.
Bharat (Ram's brother in epic Ramayana) is supposed to have meditated here..hence it is called Bharat-kot. Now this peak is known as 'bhatkot', and is the highest peak in Kumaon.
Dunagiri temple visible on the hilltop - on right side (how can it be on the wrong side?...;)
PS: sorry for the pj, couldnt resist..
The first tree sapling - a Deodar - was planted in July. Next are Padm (himalayan wild cherry-Prunus Cerasoides), Belpatra (Aeglemarmelos Corrêa), Pipal (Ficus Religiosa, Ashvattha), Banyan (Ficus Bengalensis) and some specific bushes such as TImur (Zanthoxylum alatum) and Kaner (Nerium Odorum).
This was a surprise performance by Hari Ram, one of the masons and a village resident. He is playing something that looks very much like Scottish bagpipes...it is called been-baaja or maska-baaja in Kumaoni language.
fields look charming and placid. it has its raw moments though...recently, a full grown bull was killed here by what was most likely a leopard...late one night, a leopard would have chased a neighbor's bull into our farm.. some bones and remains were found next morning.
