This "Pencil Art" image was produced from an image of colour pencils and then manipulated in Photoshop CS. The resulting images are very huge and have been put onto a black background because this shows the colours most effectively.
I have been producing "Pencil Art" for around two years now and every so often I add to my growing portfolio of work.

Walnut and tiger maple are the woods chosen by Dave for this beautiful spindle. He has used pyrography (burn etching) to adorn the notched 2 1/2 inch walnut whorl with his signature leaf motif. The overall length of the tiger maple shaft, including the brass hook, is 10 inches and the weight is 1.1 ounce.
A small sample from my spindle collection. Most of them were given to me by very special people, and one was custom made by a local woodturner.
I made yarn. Of course I still need to do stuff to it before it's really really really yarn (like stretch and skein and wash), and it may be a bit weird in spots, but y'all... it's YARN.

De kardinaalsmuts (Euonymus) is een geslacht van ongeveer 170-180 soorten bladverliezende zowel als groenblijvende struiken en kleine bomen. Ze hebben een groot verspreidingsgebied in Europa, Azië, Australië, Noord-Amerika en Madagaskar.
De bladeren zijn tegenoverstaand (een enkele soort: afwisselend) en eenvoudig ovaal gevormd, 2-15 cm lang, gewoonlijk fijn getand. De kleine bloemen zijn gewoonlijk groenwit en onopvallend.
De vrucht is een rozerode vier- of vijfkamerige bes, die opensplitst om de vlezige oranje zaden te tonen. De zaden worden door vogels gegeten, die de zaden na vertering weer uitscheiden waardoor de zaden verspreid worden.
I love these funny looking flowers, which come into their own when the tree are bare and the colours of winter are beginning to get that bleached out appearance.

Full phangs, and some empty, stuck in a sheaf of hay hanging on a kitchen wall. The longer, more uniform spindles are used with whorls for plying.
50 g. of silk top in the Desert Sage colourway from Treenway Silks, Tabachek Mini spindle, 26 g., bubinga wood whorl, hickory shaft. Spins like a dream.
